Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
A while ago I had a monitor (the first one I got, rev A01 from February 2005) that had a similar issue. There was a webpage with a gray/brownish background that would cause the screen to flicker. It only flickered on one side of the screen.
And then there was a replacement I got that would...
Hey, new Dell 2405FPW v1.8 monitors also show the frequency of your DVI connection (154mhz in my case) when you enable the factory menu.
edit: Oh wait... maybe they all show that when you disable "reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution panels" from the ATI Control panel. I believe 165mhz is...
I take it you emailed them? Did you email support@dell.com? I've found that the techs that respond to my email almost never read the email - and if they do, completely misunderstand the message.
Once they thought I lived in Canada when I clearly listed a US address as my ship-to address.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I never heard from Dell again. They never sent me an airbill to send to their special engineering lab, nor did they ever call me again. Maybe they decided this was a non-issue?
I think flicker is more an issue of a dodgy backlight/invertor than the video card. This is especially the case if different panels behave differently on the same pages. I've noticed that the flickering is most prevalent on white backgrounds (such as Microsoft Word).
I read someone's review about the refresh rate on this monitor not being as high as one would expect out of an LCD panel. Perhaps that's why that page was flickering for me... hmm.
Anyone else have any flickering on that (or similar) sites?
Nothing you can do to get around this. I've had this problem before too, on both my ATI 9800 Pro and my Nvidia Ti4600 cards. The VGA one always seems more "pink" than the DVI one. The only way I think you can get around this is to buy a card with dual DVI outputs.
That is correct. The box is also a different shape and size.
However, if you are within 21 days of purchase, you should definitely be insisting on a brand new monitor. There should be no confusion on that point; Dell policy allows an exchange within the first 21 days to be for a brand new...
I noticed when you tilt the Apple monitors that there is little to no color shifting. However, when you take a look at our panels from an angle (say you were sitting down and then stood up suddenly while looking at the screen) the whole screen would look a lot lighter.
Compromises for this...
I'm using a v1.3 panel made in February when I see the flickers. I wonder what's causing it. It's almost like it's not running at a high enough refresh rate (like with CRT monitors).
Hey guys,
Those of you with a Dell 2405FPW, please take a look at the gray background on this site:
http://www.pbase.com/t4trbo/acura_seats_
Does the gray background (mostly in the upper left area) seem to flicker? I can't figure out what it is - it happens even when I click on a photo -...
I know that you can use the order number and customer number for Home Technical Support Chat, but I don't even see a chat option for Dell Small Business Technical Support. What type of customer are you? Did you buy from the Dell Small Business segment?
If you were a Small Business customer...
