Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
TFTCentral have said they are in the middle of testing the 45GX950A right now, and should have their review out in a week. They usually have extensive colour accuracy tests and evaluation.
It looks like the 990A is motorised as hoped by some here: https://tftcentral.co.uk/news/lgs-new-45-ultrawide-oled-monitors-with-5k2k-resolution-showcased-at-ces-2025
Also got a little excited until I realised it wasn't QD-OLED...
It doesn't look like it so far. However with the announcement and release of Samsung's 27" 4k QD-OLED panels, they definitely have a manufacturing process that supports that level of PPI, so I can't see a technical reason why they couldn't compete unless it doesn't scale to larger format...
Highly individual preference. Personally had 1000r on 34" Ulrawide and loved it and 800R is a big plus, especially on something as physically wide as a 45". But you'll find many people who abhor any curve at all.
Is this confirmed by the devs? I know with Source games that the headphone output was generated by the sound engine differently than the various surround settings, just not as good as true HRTF processed sound.
Just set your creative control panel to headphones, then set your windows configuration to 5.1 or 4 speaker setup. The windows configuration really only has bearing on games that use it to choose how to output the sound channels in their games. For BC2, you can make sure windows is set to 5.1...
I think personally HiFi is the best.
Going to try 4 speaker instead of 5.1 as well. I know with Source based games that use their own software audio rendering, 4 speaker worked better with positional cues than 5.1.
100% correct Bop.
Have done some extensive testing with BC2 and my Auzentech Forte with my Beyerdynamics.
Best setting is similar to what you should set for all games when your using any X-Fi derivative and headphones:
Set windows speakers to 5.1
Set creative control panel to Game mode and...
Bugger... was hoping to track down some more info on it, as facts are a little thin on the ground.
It may end up being a steaming pile of shit, but I'm not going to jump to any conclusions until we get a bit more info/reviews.
Actually their technical whitepaper (while lacking exact details) is pretty much right on the money with HRTF and solutions to date and where their deficiencies are.
I really don't know whether the Maelstrom engine is using an XF-I chip, do you have a source to back up that bit of info? From...
Dragging this old thread up as the release date has been announced for the 30th.
Anybody looking at getting these? I'm going to hold off until some trusted reviews come out first. Plus I really hope the headset can be removed and you can use your own cans.
I'm really interested to see how the Maelstrom sound engine turns out, and how well it performs HRTF translation of 3d sound sources in games.
This will most likely work as the X-Fi's CMSS3d does now with taking the 4/5.1/7.1 sound channel information from the game and using it's own...
