    dual monitors on a laptop?

You may also want to look into docking stations as an option. I have a Dell Latitude dock that has both DVI and VGA out. I'm able to simultaneously drive three screens from my laptop: 24" on the DVI, 20" on the VGA, and the native screen on the open laptop.

Settle this arguement. 1080p over component cable?

1080p is absolutely possible over component. Like the others said, it's more of a question of whether your source and display support it. I have my 360 outputting 1080p over component to my Samsung 4695 LCD. And yes, there still are new HDTVs that support 1080p over component.

Are you in the 24" LCD club?

Dell 2407 A03 at work Dell 2407 A04 at home Both units are great. The A04 is much brighter, and the A03 unit has more even backlighting (just these two units, not talking about all A03 and A04). Dell CS has been great too, as they gave me a $70 credit after the price of the one I bought...

laptop 2nd display, need to be native res???

AFAIK, Most modern chipsets/drivers support different resolutions on different displays. A laptop of mine drives three displays simultaneously: the internal display at 1200x800, an external display at 1920x1200, and a second external display at 1280x1024. Verify your driver support, and...

    Dell 2407 $609

Nahid, If the price drop occurred within the first 21 days of your purchase (and I think is over $50), you can request Dell give you a credit for the difference.

What Cable do I Get? Best place to buy?

Second the monoprice suggestion. Great quality cables at a great price.

Dell support told me to re-format, I've lost all my pictures. Restore options?

Well, the first thing I would do is to completely isolate the drive (stop using it, stop writing to it). Seems like you know that already. You may want to try a program called PhotoRec. It's free, and designed to recover lost files/deleted files. You tell it what type of files you're...

Not to go over old ground but...

sixleaf, Do you have access to a local CC or other store that has the 226bw on display with other LCDs? I suspect that the issue with bad dithering is due to the nature of the panel (TN), and not something specifically wrong with your unit. I returned two 226bw monitors, as I personally...

    Dell 2407WFP Rev A04 Spotted.

k00lance, Here's the link: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&docid=302177&l=en&s=gen An in case the link doesn't work, the document ID is 302177, dated 12/01/06. Note that it's for US customers only, and replaces the 21-day return policy...

    Dell 2407WFP Rev A04 Spotted.

I just got my new 2407 A04 from Dell, and I loved it. I previously returned two Samsung 226bw TN panels, as I felt those TN panels did not have the same color reproduction or viewing angles as the 2407's. The darks showed very noisy dithering, and there was significant banding on the two units...

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

7331, Yes, I have experimented with various settings to include disabling Magic Color and Dynamic Contrast to no avail. I took the unit back to a different CC and exchanged it for another new one. It too was an 'A' model, though from a different batch with a different production date. I...

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

On my LCD, I see a non-smooth gradient in the darker quadrant. The gradients radiate out from the center. Do those with the 'S' panel see the same, or is this an 'A' panel issue?

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

To expound on the dithering problem... On this (http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/) site, Contrast test boxes 2, 3, and 4 look especially noisy. What settings does everyone use for contrast/brightness/color to optimize their 226bw displays? TIA

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

I just picked up a 226BW from my local CircuitCity. It's an 'A' model manufactured in January 2007. Connected via DVI to a laptop (desktop with 8800 arrives later). No clouding, no dead pixels. (so far so good) Backlight bleeding is marginal, and I do notice some color shifting along the...

Opinions on custom build before purchasing

Thanks to all for the tips. I ended up getting an E-VGA 8800GTS/320 instead of the 7900GS, as Newegg had it for $270 after rebates. Now off to study the reading guides and waiting for the delivery guy! :)
