I'm looking to trade my HIS 6990 for a GTX 680. I don't expect to find anyone willing to trade out their new 680, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try!
I've owned it just about a year now and it's been very good to me running Eyefinity. It runs 945/1300 in my system, I've never upped any...
Can't really say I would mind keeping my 6990 and throwing in a 7970...
But I don't see it happening any time soon. It seems like something that would be much more difficult than regular CrossFireX/SLI.
Well I installed the drivers for that board from Intel's site. Before I did that the driver date was like '06(??), after the update it said '09, but still listed as P55. Very confusing to me.
My friend has been trying to play BF3 with me recently and has constant hard freezes. I went to look at his drivers in Device Manager and under System Devices it showed up as P55. This is a x58 board, is this normal?
If you are looking at water cooling for OC potential only, I would skip it. I'm running my i7-2600k at [email protected] and under prime95 I haven't topped 73C. Either way, you'll be extremely pleased with your new Intel rig.
Somehow I've fixed it. I pushed my core clock up to 1000 and got a crash. When I booted up again, no dots. I haven't seen a dot since then.
This is driving me mad.
EDIT - AND THEY RETURN!
I'm honestly having a hard time believing that the card has some sort of hardware defect after my recent attempt at OCing it. 975/1450 Furmark stable with no extra voltage! I don't have RMA as a good option as all my extra parts are at my parents house and it would be hard to get my old 4870 to...
Sometimes it doesn't bother me much at all. Right now I can only see a few dots. But it changes rapidly and can get pretty obnoxious. I really don't understand what could be faulty on the card that would make it misbehave in 2D but still dominate anything 3D.
I figure I'll throw my experience in:
I upgraded from a 4870/1920x1200 -> 5870/1920x1200 -> 5870/5760x1080 -> 2x 5870/5760x1080 -> 6990/5760x1080
Right now I'm only running a single 1920x1080 display due to space issues(3 27" displays are like 8 feet edge-to-edge) so I'm not really utilizing...
I've owned my 6990 since early April, never OC'd past the BIOS switch on the card. Recently(1 month or so) I've been seeing a lot of strange dots on my screen, but never in a game or while playing something in VLC, etc. My machine has been giving me BSODs recently, but it seems to only be caused...
Thanks everyone for your input and advice.
I personally use GIMP over PS, the quick download/install/config and IMO more intuitive interface makes it a complete winner. But my sister loves Photoshop and knows her way around it better than I think I've every known a program. Watching her work...
A little explanation:
I'm likely going away from home for an extended period(not to prison and I'm not going to explain). My little sister(15) is way into creating art, both digital and those old ways. Right now she is using a machine with the specs following for gaming(another one of her...
