    NVIDIA & Vista Driver News

I'm using Vista x86 with the 100.64 beta drivers right now. Looking through my registry in the /Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run folder, I notice there are 3 processes started at start-up related to the Nvidia driver. One of them is 'NvMediaCenter' which provides the icon in your...

    Who still makes CRTs?

Why are you running a 5:4 aspect ratio resolution on a 4:3 aspect ratio monitor? Haven't you noticed that things that are supposed to be circles are ovals?

    Widescreen - worth it?

Perhaps, but what made up my mind up about widescreen is that I feel its going to be the standard in the near future. TVs have gone digital and widescreen. Home theater PCs are here. The distinction between TV and computer are blurring, so its only natural that computer monitors are going...

    Who still makes CRTs?

I bought a 19" Samsung CRT and it was a piece of crap. It was no replacement for the Dell/Sony Trinitron I had. I'm happy with my LCD now even though it has its shortcomings. Overall its better than a CRT IMO.

    Widescreen - worth it?

Widecreen has been incredible for games and great for video editing. If you're worried about streching/squashing, but a monitor with 1:1 pixel mapping. I have the Dell 2007WFP which does this and it comes in great when I don't want to / can't run in 1680x1050 and don't want to deal with scaling.

How to log application starts in WinXP?

What I'd like to go is keep a log of every process that starts from boot-up on. It doesn't have to store the process start time, but the log needs to be in chronological order at least. Why? I have some process that runs about 5 minutes after boot up and then again 30 minutes after boot-up...

    Ink me, please

I've bought generic ink catridges for my HP printer from http://www.meritline.com/. It clearly was a refill cartridge as there was ink splattered on the outside. Even though it looked shady, no complaints about the perfomance of the catridge. All my printing comes out fine.

Who's getting sick of upgrading their video card?

I'm not getting sick. My 9800 Pro still does a decent job. It is about time for an upgrade.... next spring.

Old server hardware - SCA SCSI issues!

Some older SCSI drives had active termination on the drive. You could usually turn this on or off with a jumper on the the drive or the backplane (in the case of SCA). Having this on-drive termination on as well as a bus termination could cause the problems you are seeing.

    First LCD: Dell?

The Dell 2007's visable height is about the same as a 19" CRT (but much wider of course). So you may need to go bigger if you want the same vertical viewing area. But I guess if your roomate has a 20" widescreen and you like that size, then disgregard my comments.

    Which 22" display to get?

Instead of saying you're in the market for a 22" screen, why don't you look for a 1680x1050 monitor? This will put you into 20"-22" screen range and give you some better choices if you don't mind going slightly smaller. Some people feel the pixels are too large on the 22"ers anyway (although you...

Dell 2007WFP Has Arrived [Mini Review 56k Warn]

Nice shots. I love mine too. The anti-glare coating took some getting used to but I've gotten used to it. Its only noticable on bright solid backgrounds anyway.

How Do I Change Contrast On Dell 2007WFP?

Try the advanced settings on your graphics driver. I don't have a contrast adjustment on my 2007wfp either.
