Thanks for your input. I did get the extended warranty on the monitor. The monitor has been o.k. but I want to know if i'll be happy with the viewing angle of the TN panel cause I sometimes use it to watch TV from across the room. My current monitor doesnt have too much backlight bleed.
I have the old Gateway 24"(FDP2485) monitor. The inverted ghosting doesn't bother me too much unless I got used to it over the past 6 months. I use the monitor mainly for 360 and TV use. I know the new Gateway 24" monitor uses a TN panel(+HDMI) and the old monitor uses a S-PVA panel.

Try dead pixel buddy to check for dead pixels. Put the backround color on black to check for bleeding.

Could you possibly see how it works as a TV? I wanted to see if you can view the screen from a distance since its a TN panel with restricted viewing angles. The 2485 works pretty good as a TV. Mine does 1080p over VGA for the 360. Its was built Jan 2007. No dead pixels and very little inverse...
