Is it more obvious on grey or light grey backgrounds? It sounds like you got a panel with some localized tinting issues. It happens a lot on IPS panels, but it's good that you can ask Dell for a replacement if you're not happy with it.
I thought it was a model naming mistake with some sites on the U2412hm which was meant to be U2412m. The 'h' models are the 16:9 ratio panels to have 1920x1080 and will be released in the U2212hm and U2312hm as replacements for the previous models.
I can't comment on the damaged LCD part, but I speculate that it will fail to produce the results you are ultimately seeking. Using alcohol to clean the internal part of the screen would involve diluting the soiled surface with the aid of diffusion (of the unwanted matter) to an external...
If it's between the 920 or 860, definitely the 920. But if the 750 is also on the list, then go cheap all the way. The way I see it, it's more between the 920 or 750. Going higher end or going bang for buck value all the way. Unless you're going to be maxing out on extremely heavily threaded...
I had that exact same problem with the shift in color temperature with 3 different Dell 2007WFP IPS panels more than 2 years ago. On all 3 of them, there would be a shift in color temperature around 1/2 to 2/3 of the screen when viewing on a light colored background like light grey or white...
LCD TV's generally only go down to RGB 8 right? I think I got the xbox setup on the wrong setting all along with my TV as I never new what the standard, intermediate, and expanded meant.
Yes, you can choose to keep the same monitor and have it sent in just to repair the issue and replace whatever parts that are needed to fix the problem.
Okay, I guess these dead pixels are starting to bother me, but only this particular one looks like 2 dead pixels bunched together. You think NEC would let me get another exchange due to a couple dead pixels and that I'm not satisfied? Or are there specific criteria for dead pixel exchanges?
I just got mine back from NEC, they sent me a replacement unit and so far it looks good, no noticable backlight bleeding, but there's about 2-3 dead pixels on different sides of the screen 1-2 inches from the side. I wonder if I should send this one in again...
Yeah, ips panels will have that metallic reddish glow on the corners even when looking straight on. It only happens on darker colors or blacks. It does get annoying sometimes and for me at least, I would rather have a s-pva that fades out in color a bit than a contamination of red/purple glow.
I'm having mine RMA'd with NEC as well. I have the option of sending it in for repair or they can send me another refurbished one. I chose to have mine sent in for repair, hopefully changing out the faulty panel itself. Anyone think it's a better idea to take another refurbished unit instead...
Looks like I can have mine sent in for repair or they can cross-ship me another one in the meantime. Think I should have them repair this one or send another unit. I don't know what the chances are of getting another defective unit with the same problem or some other problem.
After playing around with my camera here's a shot of the vertical lines with these sparkles in my screen. This was taken up close with macro mode. The vertical lines are about 2-3mm apart in reality and is present throughout most of the screen. Does anyone else experience this on a black...
