    Crap here too.

    HP ZR24w

This didn't take a week. I just awoke my system from overnight sleep and had snow on both panels. This the first time the secondary panel lost signal. So, setting the default source to DVI did not solve the problem, something else seems to be going on here and although I doubt it, unless...

Good idea, thanks. I have now set the default source from DP to DVI on the panel in question. It may now take a week to see if that solves this problem.

Yes, I am running OS X but not on a real Macintosh, I build high quality Intel-based "hackintoshes" instead. However, I did not have this problem with the Samsung panels I just replaced, so I am pretty sure this issue is related to this particular HP ZR24w which is otherwise flawless. I also...

This just happened again with the same panel.

    HP ZR24w

As many people like myself are running their ZR24w's with the brightness turned down, I don't see the lower brightness being a downside for the ZR22w with most people. Well, the ZR22w is not just 1920 x 1080 (versus 1920 x 1200), it is 1920 x 1080 squeezed on to a smaller surface area. But I...

Well, one difference is the rated brightness (typical): ZR22w: 250 cd/m² ZR24w: 400 cd/m² Another is the rated response rate (typical): ZR22w: 8 ms ZR24w: 5 ms The ZR24w also has a higher dot-pitch than the ZR22w, which is actually only a 21.5" display...

    16:9 vs 16:10

Actually, the ZR22w is only a 21.5" display: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/382087-382087-64283-72270-3884471-4101127.html So, you are getting even less surface area if that is what you are concerned with. Personally, I am more interested in the number of pixels a display has.

    Great.

    16:9 vs 16:10

    A related issue is the huge premium we have to pay for 1920 x 1200 (16:10) over a 1920 x 1080 (16:9): HP ZR24w: $425 [1920 x 1200 (16:10)] HP ZR22w: $289 [1920 x 1080 (16:9)] So for a 10% less of a monitor, you save 32% (or vice versa).

I expect it will, but let us know if you can still detect a tinted region on your replacement.

I do not see anything like this in either of my ZR24w's. Given the proximity of this tint to the pixel defects you described, I am wondering if they are related.

Yes, but is it good for pr0n? Just kidding... ROFL. Ditto.

    HP ZR24w

Ok, I just had a sleep related issue on one of my ZR24w's. I left for about an hour, came back and my system and ZR24w's were sleeping. Upon awaking, one of the two ZR24w's was displaying "snow". I was not able to be immediately fix it by re-selecting the DVI input source. Instead, I power...
