Radeon w/ artifacts still good for folding?

Sounds good to me, gang! It may be worthless for gaming (or anything else) but folding w/ a Q6700 should yield some extra PPD... easily 10k It's still more power-efficient than the GTX 460...

Hit a Folding (Stanford) milestone? Post it here:

Thanks! Whoa... I'm almost at 1.5 million! Not bad for a goofy newbie with crummy home PC's. ;)

Radeon w/ artifacts still good for folding?

One of my video cards, a Radeon HD5770, has visual errors/artifacts. In short - is it still any good for Folding@Home or will it be sending bad data/errors?

    Folding: Hyperthreading in 2013?

I have the option of getting a used i7 2600k (overclocked plenty) for less than a brand new i5 3570k... (I'm a little worried it may have even been overclocked to the point of damage.) There was a time, not long ago, when the i7 allowed -bigadv and made all the difference. Now that -bigadv...

Ubuntu Desktop Installation Guide for F@H

I'm about to attempt this on an i3 3220T z77 boxen w/ 16GB and a Radeon 7750 running 24/7 with an old 120gb hard drive (unless a RAM disk is practical and easy to set up?) (I'll use an older power-thirsty Core2Quad 4GB and 7750 for occasional gaming or other Windows apps.) Anything I...

    Itch to upgrade... i3, i5, 8320? (F@H)

    Never mind... snagged a used i3 2100 for a lousy $50 ;)

    Itch to upgrade... i3, i5, 8320? (F@H)

But an i5 3470 or AMD-8320 is half the price of the 3770k, which is why I asked. Anyone know about the AMD 8-cores? One or two people poo-poohed them earlier... [shrug]

    Itch to upgrade... i3, i5, 8320? (F@H)

I have the itch to upgrade back up to modern components, but I still like getting good folding performance. I know Intel's i3 & i5 outperform the AMD 8-core units in games, but how does it hold out in F@H?

what is the current state of gpu folding?

Changes made... how long until they take effect, you think? Thanks!

what is the current state of gpu folding?

Wasn't it only 6-12 months ago that this was the other way around?? I currently have a Core2Quad and Radeon 7750... a second Radeon 7750 for crossfire would be the most cost-effective upgrade for gaming... it's beginning to sound like it'll be good for folding again, too! Yahoo! How do you...

    3 cards

Closely related... ... does this mean I can have two nVidia cards in the same system (660TI and 430) both folding with the same Win7 program? It'd be nice to use both cards in one system rather than a second box. Power efficiency and all that... landlord's grumpy about power use.

Giggity! Now getting over 60k PPD!

Oh, I know 60-70k is small potatoes compared to you big boys, bust considering this only cost $400 in total, that's not bad! ;)

Giggity! Now getting over 60k PPD!

Wow... easily the best folding purchase I've ever made! The upgrade to the i5 3470 was a nice step up from the i3 but the GeForce 660TI is amazing!!! This machine now gets 45-50k PPD and my old Q6600 w/ GT-430 gets another 12-15k PPD. To cap it all, it's still very, very quiet! Hope it...
