How exactly can you determine before hand if your computer will support a 24" monitor? Maybe a benchmark test of some kind?
My computer and video card are a few years old, but it was top of the line at the time and does have a DVI output.
I have an Athalon 1.2 GHz with an nvidea geforce...
I'll say! What happened to the days where you went to a store and bought what you wanted?
Obtaining this montor with a 1:1 fix is like the quest for the holy grail. Somehow this doesn't seem like the smartest product strategy, but what do I know...
I think that it has been universally confirmed that this monitor stretches all signals that come from a non-PC source.
A PC video card will scale the image for you, essentially adding black bars to the signal, so in those instances it doesn't stretch (assuming your video card is capable of...
Bestbuy has it for $999. More expensive than average, but Best Buy should let you return it and generally has better customer service than any online store. If I was buying it, I'd buy it there.
But personally, I'm waiting until after x-mas, when either the 1:1 fix will be in, or a...
I don't disagree - for PC use. I was looking for something that would work with a DVD player, xbox, wii, etc, and the Benq doesn't appear to deliver on this front.
I think I'm just going to suck it up and buy a damned TV AND the Benq and call it quits. :p
From my perspective, people have all owned the following monitors and reported no major problems with PC use (gaming, web, pictures, etc). They all have some problems reported by a fraction of their users, but on the whole, they are all decent monitors for PC use. From what I can see, there is...
They almost certainly tested with a PC video card input that did the scaling for the monitor. I have yet to see a review that properly runs the external inputs through their paces.
Just a note - if all you are looking for is a big PC monitor and thats it, there are quite a few (arguably)...
A lot of us, myself included, don't watch TV, and therefore don't need a TV.
So instead of buying one giant expensive LCD TV for watching DVDs and playing xbox, and ANOTHER giant expensive LCD monitor for the computer, it makes a hell of a lot of sense to buy one single, kick ass LCD...
Good point - this would be deal breaker for me, as movies being stretched drives me nuts. Maybe I am assuming here, but it sounds like this was the guy that did the review, and he is basically confirming the lack of 1:1 pixel mapping. He says that when he hooked up an xbox, the "Xbox 360 output...
I just cancelled my order for this monitor. Tigerdirect confirmed that it has been delayed and they said there was not ETA on it at this time - basically delayed indefinitely until further notice.
Thanks for nothing Benq... Time to revist the Dell. There is something to be said for a company...
Well, I finally caved in and took the credit card out for a jog and picked up this monitor from tigerdirect.ca.
First word of warning is that although tigerdirect says it ships in 24 hours on their site, this is not true at all. From what I can gather, this is shipping directly from the...
