I just upgraded from the ATI 8500 64mb to the 9800pro.
I downloaded the latest catalyst 4.4 drivers and installed them. I did not use the installation CD that came with the card.
All seems to be working fine and the games look a bit better.
My question is that in the SMARTGART tab...
I am just learning... What exactly is Pixel Shading and why is it important? My second question is that if Pixel Shader is so important, why are the new ATI cards be with out Pixel Shader?

Hows this possible. FRAPS says my cheap ATI 8500 64mb gets between 75 - 90 FPS?? It fluxuates radically between those two numbers....but I thought it would be in the 20's. If this is correct, what the heck kinda frame rates will a 9800 get????
