    HDT-S1283 + X3 720 BE combo deal - $147 AR + S/H

Actually, it's a mistake. The $141 AR is for the 9850 combo, NOT the X3 720 combo. It's still $147 AR for the 720 combo.

    HDT-S1283 + X3 720 BE combo deal - $147 AR + S/H

Wow the price dropped a few bucks. That would cover the shipping cost! I have to fight it... Don't... Buy... <CLICK>

    HDT-S1283 + X3 720 BE combo deal - $147 AR + S/H

Not a bad deal for a good processor and cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCombos.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003&SubCategory=574&SortField=0&PageSize=10&page=1 It requires a $10 MIR and you have to pay shipping based on the cpu. Plus tax for some.

    Memory for my Kuma 7750BE & M3A78-CM

It might help if you give some more details on what you mean exactly when you say they won't work. Do they post? Do you get BSOD? etc... Have you checked the memory settings if they do post? Your BIOS may be setting the DDR parameters differently when you put the 4000+ cpu in the board...

Performance gain from overclocking 4850 RAM?

While I certainly agree with you that you can usually find a cheaper price on stock clocked parts and simply o/c them to their more expensive factory overclocked alternatives, I was more referring to pushing all parts as close to the edge as possible. If all your games and programs run to your...

Wow, with all the risks of having problems, I think I'll stick with 8.12 for now.

Does an extra 4GB really help? 8GB Total

Did you pick up the Corsair XMS at the egg? Must.... resist..... no... buy....

    how good is this memory...?

There are quite a few good deals going on right now on 4GB kits that are better performers than your basic crucial stuff. But I guess you'd have to be willing to deal with rebates. I know a 4GB kit of Corsair XMS were about $20 at ZZF and going to be about $16 at the Egg. Both after rebates...

Performance gain from overclocking 4850 RAM?

Hahaha. I used to have the OC bug as well. But now I've realized that all the time I used to spend tweaking every memory timings, voltage, multiplier, etc... I can use towards actual gaming. My system runs everything as it is, so why OC it any further?

Does an extra 4GB really help? 8GB Total

That is a great idea! I never thought to save $XX a month towards a next build. I usually just impulsively buy something that I didn't need anyways. I probably didn't even need to go to 4GB of ram since I already had 2GB of D9GMH sticks....

got my new Phenom II 940

Are you using the stock hsf or something else? I don't think my A64 Freezer Pro is going to cut it for these 940 chips....

Does an extra 4GB really help? 8GB Total

I'm also considering this as well. I already have 4GB, but with the current price of DDR2 and the two open slots on my mobo, I may not be able to fight it any longer. Only thing that I don't like is the risk of messing up a good thing. Everything's working great now. "If it ain't broke...."
