Thanks for the pics. Seems to have some slight uniformity issues, but that is almost to be expected with a screen this size. No tinting that I can see, which is good.
I've got a U2410 that is tint-free and I'm happy enough with it. However, if the ZR24w proves to have a less aggressive...
Yes, your latest is a refurb. For exchanges, Dell only sends out new replacements for the first 21 days after initial purchase. After that, you get a refurb. It's automatic and it's their company policy and the salespeople online/phone can't change this policy (yes, I've tried). The shipping...
I've had 4 U2410s on my desk, only 1 had the tint issue and it was a refurb.
I am happy with the U2410 I now have. No tint and updated firmware.
That said, if I purchased a U2410 and it had the tint that I observed on the refurb Dell sent me (as part of my journey to getting an A01), and...
ashmang - what setting are you using for that pic? Try an RGB mode, use sRGB.
Although, from that picture, your monitor does appear to have the pink/green tint. :(
If you want to get it replaced, call Dell and tell them you have a stuck bright pixel, they will replace the monitor. In North America, if it is within 21 days of purchase, you get a new replacement. If after 21 days, you get a refurb. Not sure about the UK.
The dithering can be addressed...
Dell's US forum rep, Chris M, has stated that Dell will have no way of knowing if you flashed it unless you specifically tell them. I don't think the text color means much. It's only if you brick it while flashing that you are SOL.
Otherwise, it's don't ask, don't tell. ;)
- 1920x1200 (as opposed to 1080) - harder to find as apparently the industry thinks everyone just uses their expensive computers to watch movies all day
- wide gamut with two excellent RGB modes - hence future proof as more software and OS become color-managed. excellent RGB modes allow for...
Yes. There are no hardware differences that I am aware of, or that have been reported - either by Dell or other users. The firmware update will address the dithering.
An LED backlight won't give the feel of a CRT, I don't think LCDs in general will anytime soon, no matter how they are backlit.
Go for the U2410, IMO. I have one and like it. They are shipping Rev A01 now, so the dithering will be fixed. If you are unlucky enough to get a screen with...
eric...I'd relax about this. Every monitor I've owned or seen will do this to some degree, it's normal. My Viewsonic VX2025wm did this. My U2410 has a glow in the corners as well. It's a limitation of the technology/backlight. Nothing to worry about.
If you really want perfection, get...
