Reliability of packaged, closed loop cooling systems

I knew that. The main thing I like about the CLCs is that they take up so much less space in the case (leaving better airflow for everything else, and making access easier if I do have do do anything in there), and they put less stress on the mobo. I might spend the extra bucks for that, but I...

Reliability of packaged, closed loop cooling systems

When I build a system, I generaly don't screw with it too much after it's done. Air coolers, if nothing else, tend to live forever. The packaged, closed loop systems (think Corsair H50 and it's descendants) have been around a while now. How have they been holding up? I worry about...

    The Lian Li Gallery

Not as much room in the "attic" as you might imagine. Thought about the prepackaged liquid cooling option. But i worry about the longevity of those units (my last build lasted me seven years.) And they really don't cool any better than then higher quality air coolers, and in some cases, not...

Case fan wiring - How to untangle?

Better late than never.... Case = Lian Li PC-B25F. For now I just stuffed everything back there and closed it up, with some difficulty. The cause of the difficulty is the garden hose diameter mother board main power cable. There's a point where it crosses the main structural crossbar of...

Case fan wiring - How to untangle?

Just did a build. Haven't even closed the case up. I used a modern case that allows cable management around the back of the motherboard. Thanks to this, the main chamber of the case is pretty neat. The price of this is that back chamber (behind the motherboard tray) is a spagetti bowl. The...

    Lian Li Price Increase???

I do. A lot of time, if they're high, it's only by a couple of bucks, and I can usually make that up on a combo deal or two. But this time either they're way high, the other place is way cheap, or some combo thereof. Googled. To many infotechs. if they're in there somewhere, they're lost...

Sandy Bridge adopters -- post your new build.

I ran the Antec power supply calculator for my setup, which is very similar to yours, but would probably draw a smidge more than yours (I have an SSD, a second optical, and a card reader, but will likely go with an ATI 6950 VC). It came to something like 490 watts. Even adding a second VC and...

Sandy Bridge adopters -- post your new build.

Porter. Very nice. The only thing I'd change would be to lose about 250 watts from the PSU. You're probably pulling no more (and probably less) than 500 watts. Even if you added a second GTX460 down the line, you wouldn't be pulling more than 600.

    Lian Li Price Increase???

Just noticed I never followed up on this. I received the case with no problems, then promptly decided I needed to wait until Sandy Bridge came out to do the build. But the case arrived intact and with no problems, and is patiently waiting to be filled.

Post your "rate my cables" here

A little late but.... What's the white plastic block in the middle of the back of the motherboard tray?

Help a first time builder out....SB or i7-950....

I'm going SB. Will never have more than 2 video cards, and likely only 1. I don't feel the need for triple channel memory (now that I've drank the Kool Aid about get 8GB.) I really thing one of the higher end SB cpus will cover me for quite a while.

    The Official - Who's buying the i7 2600K Thread!

Right now I'm still using a 6yo AMD 939 based machine, so I'm REALLY due for a replacement. I'm chilling to SB is out, because I think the pricing will be very similar to the current 1156 lineup, and will probably be somewhat, but not spectacularly faster. the 1155 based machines will likely...

i5-750, AMD or wait for Sandy?

Hell, When do you need the machine by? If you need to do something now, I'd do the i5 - i7. Check to see if you're software can make use of hyperthreading. If so, look at the i7 860, if not the i5 750 or 760. If you can wai two months (if you get availability the same time we do in the...
