How does it make sense to crossfire right away?Even at 1080p 7970 kills almost all games easily maxing them out.A year down the road when it struggles to max some games is when it makes sense to crossfire.Right now 7970 crossfire only makes sense if you have 3 monitors or running 2560x1440.
I find it funny that people say get a strong card then xfire when the time comes then a new card comes out when its time to crossfire the older one they say get the new card.Dude just crossfire that 7970 it will crush a r290x easily and crossfire actually works well in most games now
If your having driver errors with that card in your sig its user error.Stop with the whole driver issue crap.nvidia is just as bad i had gtx 660 sli and came back to amd cause the drivers werre crap even when i disabled sli
I wouldnt go 780 ti at any resolution the 780 ti is overpriced especially being limited to 3 gb of vram.. Only way i might say 780 ti over either one of the 290 cards is if the 780 ti came with 6 gb of ram otherwize id steer clear of it as even at 1080p 3gb will not be enough in the near future...
Try 280x = 7970 ghz edition not 7870.This isnt a tough choice imo the cards are within 5% of eachother depending on the game and the 280x is $50-100 cheaper its an easy decision 280x
I would put a 290 non x with aftermarket cooling or a non reference card for that matter against any 780.Not sure how you can even comment on this yet till you see what a cooler running 290 can do
By all means throw your money down the toilet. Its dummy's like you is why the card prices are so outrageous.I bet you would pay $150 more for 3% performance increase
Why dont youpeople be more specific instead of just saying it will not play on ultra at 60 fps? 7950 crossfire will play almost all games at 1440p at 60 fps there might be a few like crysis 3 and farcry 3 but for the most part crossfire 7950's is more then enough for 2560x1440
