Your are exactly right. The water can only get to a maximum coolness of the ambient air temp. Depending on how much you OC the components in your loop will determin how much heat removal you need in order to maintain a maximum temp. I think 15min may not be long enough to mind your max temp but...
No. The pump is warm at best. It did get a little hot when I was running it oustside the case but now that I have it installed with a 120mm blowing on it and NB, it is just warm.
New motherboard in and all is looking good. Have clocks back to where the were and with a room temp of ~70F my load temps are just hitting 50C and that is with the rad fans at 7v. At that voltage noise is much better. Cannot hear the pump at all over the other fans so overall I am very...
Before my MB died, I saw a temp drop of 8 degC under Orthos load from my TRUE 120. As far as noise, the fans that come with the kit seem loud. I do have them blowing into the rad so moving them to a pull configuration should help. I also have some other fans I can try. Not sure what your talking...
I had it running outside of the computer, like you were doing, and it would get warm but not hot. Each time it would get warm I would move the pump around and air would bubble up through the rad. I was def watching for the heat from your posts.
Have not run it long though since the board is...
Well, got the H20-220 kit installed and all was well for a short time. CPU temps were good(58C max w/Orthos load) but then....shutdown. Had finished orthos for a 10min run then went to surfing. After 2 minutes of surfing the comp shutdown. Checked a few things then noticed the NB heatsing...
From a price perspective, doing dual or triple loops in a MM UFO won't be a third of the cost
That Lian Li costs about $220-$250 depending on where you get it. The MM UFO costs about $50-$100 more depending on window kits and stuff. I like the UFO but just dont have the room around my desk...
As for as the mounting of the 120 rad goes, it can only be mounted vertically since this rad has the res built in. The water enters/exits the bottom of the rad and you vent it from the top through the fill cap. If you got the system completely liquid full then it would probably work, mounted...
Not to make you feel bad but to me that heatsink looks terrible. I would have thought for the lapping surcharge you have to pay they could have atleast cleaned it up after they lapped it. You also said you cleaned it with alcohol. I would be quite unhappy if that stuff did not come off...
I just bought the Swiftech H20-220 compact at the egg for $144 shipped. There are basically just two components(Pump/block and Rad/Resevoir) and the biggest one can be mounted outside the case. Might be right up your ally. Have heard good things about this kit performance wise. If you dont need...
I don't think it is too overpriced. The big HSF players will run you $50-$60. You can get this full kit at Newegg(when they are back in stock) for $145. For that you get a pretty good system that is quiet, cools good, and gives the ability to add the GPU.
Myself, I am waiting for my income...
