No joy, reseated the 9900 and no improvement, it is either a horribly bad chip or bad compatibility. I can't figure out why it barely hits above jedec standards(2666) with looser timings and higher voltage than should be needed(can't get my ram higher than 2800mhz no matter what I try).
I'm currently running this exact combo, but may upgrade to the 390 Dark here shortly once I see a few more reviews on it. It works as long as you have the bios updated; I'm not sure as I'm still playing with it, but I think I have a bum 9900, as the stable overclock on a overkill custom loop is...
Nice, I received the same 'use thier backplate instead' reply this morning. Didn't see they realized the problem, as I sent a response saying that wouldn't work well due to how the socket is secured. No response from my follow up, but it looks like they know the problem at least.

not sure what you mean by commando exactly, but the socket cpu retention screws onto the backplates from asus. I guess it would be possible to skip out on the retention device and asus backplate and just use the waterblock and xspc backplate to keep the cpu in the socket, but you would lose...

No problem, I also purchased it with the assumption that it was ready for socket 2011. I'm not sure who is at fault for it not working though, as it looks like it may just be a problem only for the Rampage IV, in which case it would be ASUS. Still no word from XSPC though.

the 1366/2011 plate for the raystorm is too short to fit over either of the plates on the rampage. Not sure if this is just a rampage problem, but it fits perfectly over my classified 1366 board. The problem is that the rampage backplate is longer and has two additional holes on it to allow...
Just to note, the raystorm will not work with the rampage iv motherboard due to backplate conflicts. Still have yet to hear back from xspc regarding this.
