Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Ah cool. I assume you mean you have a LSI 9211-8i card running as a plain HBA and hdparm works with it? Were the drives SAS or SATA? Sounds promising if so :)
I will install something other that Windows as soon as I get a chance to test.
Thanks
David
In a normal RAID array in Windows I can see that this could cause problems as in a lot of configurations all drives might need to be awake for before the request can be handled, which could cause problems with Windows getting upset. Note that I only temporarily have windows installed to test out...
I agree that it is not good to have a drive spinning up and down every few minutes. I tried to outline roughly how I would be using the drives so that I could focus on solving what I am trying to do. I think in my scenario, the opposite is true and the life of the drives will be extended and it...
I just tried this and I get the same error about "Function not implemented". I could try this on something other than Windows as well as soon as I get a chance.
Thanks for the info on this! I have experimented with both smartctl and hdparm and have had some success with smartctl but not hdparm. hdparm reported "HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(standby) failed: Function not implemented"
I don't have the exact disks I plan to run with yet, but am testing the sleep...
Hello, thanks for the reply. That was pretty much my understanding as well, however the main problem was that the Windows (or unRAID) does not even seem to be able to get the drives to sleep when connected to the card, whereas it can when they are plugged into the motherboard.
Delays in my...
Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I coincidentally just happened to download a windows build of hdparm, however I have a ubuntu install here so I might try that instead and play around with hdparm and see what I can (or can't) make it do and will report back.
