In future google your motherboard model (or go to manufactures site and search for it.) one of the first results is very likely (always in my experience) going to be the manufactures page for the motherboards from there select support > Memory support and there you'll find your question...

huh... in my case windows had been activated w/ digital license and showed up in my M$ account... which i selected and then reactivated. However if it isn't listed w/ you Microsoft account I am not sure what else to try at that point? Sorry maybe it is different with an OEM key?

If you are running windows you can also reboot to bios (Settings> System > recovery>advanced start up > then chose boot to bios from the advance startup menu).

You won't lose access, my legit retail win8 key got deactivated after a bios update on my pc... and all that happened was got the annoying watermark until I finally got it to reactivate which was a pain .. at first the only option showing when tried to activate was to buy a new license...
