Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Great
All I have with me is my crappy phone cam.....but...here are some quick snapshots..
Haven't had a chance to set up the 5.1 yet...and yes, very messy desk, and a book/pamphlet as my mouse pad.
Well...got the PC built! Everything seems to be working fine, love the speed, games look awesome, movies look awesome.
Now time to get a little out of this g0 chip.
I'm a complete n00b to overclocking, I'm running stock cooling, but my place is well air conditions, and from what I've read...
Well I finally got around to installing the games, and was wondering if I should install Punkbusters?
It seems like it runs in the background, and may hinder performance. I obviously don't plan on cheating, but I don't like random unnecessary programs running in the background. Does the COD4...
Well I ended up ordering Orange box, and CoD4. I'll also probably eventually order CS: Source.
I only have a laptop right now (although it does have M8600gt), so I haven't tried out any of the demos, and judging from some videos of gameplay I watched on youtube, COD4 seems friggin fun. I used...
Now that I've got the new computer on order, I need some games to make use of the GTS graphics card.
I haven't been into online gaming since the old counterstrike/TF days, what would everyone recommend? And are there any sales/deals going on?
I'm looking at playing mostly 3d shooters...
I'm going to have a proper surround setup. I remember reading that with directx 10.1, games will be able to have true 5.1 surround. Will the sound card have to be able to support this, or will current sound cards work?
Another question: Would I need a sound card, or will the onboard audio be enough?
I'm going to be watching movies and playing games on this machine, and I have the logitech z5500 speakers, and would like to get the most use out of them.
I went through college with a desktop and I feel like I would have done much worse had I had a laptop through those years, mainly because the laptop would serve as a distraction with chatting, surfing, etc, which is what everyone did in class with their laptops.
I've used MACs here n there, but it's going to take a lot for me to leave my rock solid XP laptop, and I don't even have to mention the PC.
Vista was still a little buggy on my new laptop, so I switched back to XP for now, however, I may go back to Vista once the new service pack comes out...
Would you guys recommend using ready boost or getting another 4 gigs of ram, making it 8 gigs total?
If you have plenty of ram, Vista won't need to use ready boost, correct?
Okay I just stumbled upon this, and now I'm thinking if I should cancel my Q6600 order and wait it out....

What do you guys think?
It's not easy staying under 1000 with a proper q6600 build.
I started with a budget of around 700-800 thinking I'd get a regular e-mail computer (maybe even a dell), and although the parts aren't here yet, I THINK (haven't looked at all the receipts) I'm at around 1200 or 1300 so far...
