    Plex pass going up

Grabbed my lifetime back in 2017 for $120, I've certainly gotten my use out of it. I can't consider Emby for a backup, because they are just one step behind pulling whatever games Plex may pull. I hope Plex sticks around long enough for Jellyfin to get in a better state, several of my friends &...

ARECA Owner's Thread (SAS/SATA RAID Cards)

That's a first for me, thanks for letting us know. Sorry I told you otherwise.

ARECA Owner's Thread (SAS/SATA RAID Cards)

Moving arrays between different hardware manufacturers is not something you want to do in nearly all cases, to the best of my knowledge. I don't think the staggered spin up has anything to do with why they are not detected.

Any Zen 3 users holding out for Zen 6?

Sitting on a 5950x and 3090. I'm waiting at least until zen 6, I spent too much on this system and it needs to last a few more years.

ARECA Owner's Thread (SAS/SATA RAID Cards)

Glad you figured it out, I didn't have any input as to why this was happening. I know when I moved my old array from a sata 1220 controller to my 1883, while it did read the array fine I had weird performance drops that never went away until I deleted the set and rebuilt it from scratch. I...

    [H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears 2025

Not sure why you would say that because it was in stock for a split second? Sold out for me. Remember these are very location specific (at least for Best Buy.)

    [H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears 2025

I have no love for either, but given how prevalent return fraud is with Amazon & their mixing of stock, I would pick Newegg.

    My X58 Build Log

Give Fraps a try, it isn't updated anymore but should work on hardware of that era.

    [H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears 2025

No one has been mining with gpus since September 2022 when ethereum went proof of stake, unless they have free electricity. Even then, it isn't worth it to get new gpus anymore. It's not about which ones 'require.' Many just want the best of the generation. Anyone on high refresh 4k displays...

    $2500 5090 I’m out

You do realize consumer graphics cards are little more than an after thought at this point right? They could have skipped 5k series and fully exited the market, and it would barely be a hiccup to them. All the money is in ai and ml to massive customers and datacenters. The reason we get the...

    $2500 5090 I’m out

Pick your poison if that's your only source of fresh air. The current arrangement starves the CPU of fresh air. Ideally the GPU would receive fresh air from the bottom of the case.

    $2500 5090 I’m out

I'd suggest moving to an aio cooler with a front mounted radiator, so the CPU is cooled first. With Nvidia's new design, you can't rely on cooling happening at the socket area anymore.

    2025 6th Annual Folding Challenge (Jan 24 - 31)

This was fun, been out of the game for quite some time. Surprised what I could accomplish with just 4 GPUs! I nearly doubled my total points in a week compared to what took me many many years to accumulate. I'll keep them running until tomorrow night probably.

    $2,500 RTX-5090 ( 60% faster than 4090 )

Now we've got even more likelihood that you won't get one anytime soon. All the aibs will be higher than the fe MSRP, so you're looking for fe only. I think no matter what the first few months will be impossible unless you live in the middle of nowhere and can have someone do local pickup at a...

    $2,500 RTX-5090 ( 60% faster than 4090 )

Impossible to know until after the first several months. If stock is super low and everything the scalpers get are selling like hotcakes, it could be two years. You'll either have to get very lucky with those alerts, or pay for a bot yourself.
