    Advice on my KVM setup

Just wanted to post an update for anyone doing this in the future. The short answer is I've been running and recording off the PCI card for about a week now and it's working great. The key was vfio for KVM, it allows a much more intelligent pass through. The following two links are what you...

    Advice on my KVM setup

That's what I was suspecting. Don't worry about the software. Assume I'm not doing MythTV or the like. If anyone has KVM support I'd be interested to just know about the SSD. Oh and as an update, a friend of mine familiar with KVM says a single bridge should get me access to the host w/o...

    Advice on my KVM setup

So that confirms that ext4 will use trim. But I'm not sure if the VM will see the drive as an SSD or just a regular hard drive. That's the final question. If the VM can see the drive as an SSD then the guest will send TRIM and both ext4 and LVM support it. Anyone use an SSD with KVM before?

    Advice on my KVM setup

Is there a better place I should ask this? I'll figure some of it out via trial and error, but surly someone has used an SSD and knows how networking works.

    Advice on my KVM setup

I'm setting up a KVM server at home and wanted to run my ideas past the community to see if there's anything I'm missing, as well as ask some questions. I've used KVM before, but never with IOMMU and never where disk/network access was very important. I'm open to suggestions and I'll be happy...

Upgrading storage for gaming, need some help.

Really will windows do this? Access the drive least used or currently not busy for the Swap? This whole swap thing is really the part I'm most unsure of in the setup. My understanding was that if something were in swap on a disk that's where it would read it from even if that drive were busy.

Upgrading storage for gaming, need some help.

I've read on the short stroking of the WD Blacks. My question is more does splitting the Swap/OS drive from the Game's drive make a large performance difference. What I saw seemed to indicate that Raid on the drives will improve throughput but not seek time. That beeing the case, I would...

Upgrading storage for gaming, need some help.

If I set it up like this where would you locate stuff? Would the 300GB raid 0 hold the OS/Swap/ and Warhammer? Then Fraps to the older drive? Oh I forgot to mention I backup my OS weekly to a NAS so I'm not concerned with losing data with a hard drive failure. I've read a lot about the...

Upgrading storage for gaming, need some help.

First I wasn't positive which section to put this in, but it's a storage question so I started here. I'm thinking about upgrading my hard drive in my gaming machine but need some help. I'm currently playing Warhammer Online and would like to be able to take Fraps videos. Also, MMO's are...
