Time for a new router. Have A LOT of devices - it needs to handle a lot of bandwidth.

This is slightly above my budget, but what are your thoughts on the Linksys WRT1900AC? Amazon.com URL BusinessWire (Release day annoucement with more details & specs) A few specs: Release date: April 10, 2014 CPU: Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM processor -- MV78230-B0 (ARMADA XP) Memory: 256MB...

Time for a new router. Have A LOT of devices - it needs to handle a lot of bandwidth.

Ok, BUT there are frequent times where the router's (internal) 100Mbps bandwidth isn't even cutting it right now. Upgrading the router from 10/100 to 10/100/1000 would seem to fix that, though I also need to stress how many devices are actually on the LAN, 19 wired & 5+ wireless. This place is...

25 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up QoS would be nice. Don't need, but do want.

Time for a new router. Have A LOT of devices - it needs to handle a lot of bandwidth.

(Just a note: I looked at the router stickied post, and the front page hasn't been updated since 2010, so hopefully it's OK that I made my own thread here) For a several years I used the ASUS RT-N16 wherever I was living at. Along with an uBee modem, I never had any trouble with my network...

    Funny Windows 8 Ad

By the way, the "language" they're speaking isn't really a language (certainly not Korean, Japanese, or Chinese). They're making sounds that sound like Chinese, but they're faking a language. It's like they're murmuring, or omitting letters/consonants. That's also part of the humor! :D

    Funny Windows 8 Ad

Seems like a lot of people here don't have much of a sense of humor, or can't appreciate a bit of humor melded with advertising. I liked all three of the commercials, but the piano one was the best. I've been using Windows 8 since it's release, for personal use at home. It's not a huge...

Woman Buys $15k Game From Goodwill For $8

The article doesn't even explain why that game is so valuable and prized among collectors. Lame.

Bought two Sapphire Radeon 7970s 3GB OC with BOOST --- Running too hot?

At 1100MHz Core, I'm getting 86C and 73C, that's after a further overclock and drilling a lot of holes out of the bottom and raising the case up 1.5-2". I'm going to have to put a 120mm fan on the side of the case or figure something else out since I'd rather the bottom card not run so hot. I...

Bought two Sapphire Radeon 7970s 3GB OC with BOOST --- Running too hot?

Yeah, I think I'm going to go to town on the bottom of the case and raise it up a bit as well. I'm leaving the side panel off for now since it's staying around 75 - 77C which is also after an OC up to 1075MHz Core. I'd certainly go higher if not for these temps. A new case isn't an option...

Bought two Sapphire Radeon 7970s 3GB OC with BOOST --- Running too hot?

Also would like to note I took off the side panel and the temperature dropped to 77C. Get creative and leave the side panel off with a fitted mesh "side panel" instead? Not sure how safe that is. Drill more holes in the side panel. I'm open to good ideas, or affirmation that some of my ideas are...

Bought two Sapphire Radeon 7970s 3GB OC with BOOST --- Running too hot?

I know it's a pretty awful photo, but the computer is planted in a hard to access place, simply for limited space reasons. You at least get the idea that it's low clearance, and you can tell is ~0.5" if you use the front bracket as a reference (ignoring the shadow).

Bought two Sapphire Radeon 7970s 3GB OC with BOOST --- Running too hot?

So no suggestions or solutions yet. I was thinking of drilling a series of holes out of the bottom and just attaching some mesh covering for the dust. Also, raising the case off the ground several more inches. Do you think this will help much at all? Hoping at least -5C to make it worth it...

Bought two Sapphire Radeon 7970s 3GB OC with BOOST --- Running too hot?

So I have two of these nifty "Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC with Boost 3GB DDR5" cards I just bought. To get an idea of what the cooler on these looks like, check the amazon pictures here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009B6Y01Y/ I installed one of them in the lower PCI-E slot, there's about...

The 25 Best-Paying Companies For Software Engineers

You must be in a different position than me. I'm entrenched in the Silicon Valley. All I see is potential and opportunity. California is also the largest state in terms of population, having a higher number of statistical figures makes sense. We also have the UC system, a model for the rest of...

The 25 Best-Paying Companies For Software Engineers

There's this thing called BART, it's like a subway train thing. You can get on it and, like, commute to the city while living in the east bay where the price of living isn't so high. Spoiled rich people? How about those who slaved for at least four years of their lives through math, physics...
