My GTX 780 classified didn't go much above 65 when playing the new batman maxed out. Seems to run pretty cool. It didn't go above 65 when running evga's OC scanner either. Even when I raised the power limit to 115% and did a slight more OC.
I'll be interested to hear. I may try out the 780 classified. By the way, the heat pipe orientation looks to run up and down the card, no 90 degree bends... If you go to neweggs site, they have the EVGA video and it will show you the internals of the ACX cooler.
That's very helpful. Basically, the windforce 3 670 is similar in heatpipe/fin orientation as the ACX and the dual-x 7970 is similar to the Asus DCU...
So if it comes between the 2, it sounds like the asus is the better deal. It's super quiet and can overclock quite a bit. I believe it's...
Also, the Asus GTX780 DC2OC is interesting looking. Supposedly overclocks crazy and is quieter than the ACX. I've just always purchased EVGA before... not sure if they have better customer service than other's anymore.
Some people say heatpipe orientation is bad if the heatpipes are lower than the GPU (which is half the heat pipes with almost every non-reference cooler). Others say it doesn't matter.
Does anyone have first hand experience with a EVGA GTX 780 ACX in a FT02 or similar 90 degree rotated...
I guess it really depends on the game. I'll be curious to see what battlefield looks like on it, since it's not meant to be very vibrant. At least that's the feeling I always got, maybe it's about to change? Haha.
Yeah, the ft04 was coming out when I bought my ft02. It didn't look as good, so I still got the ft02. That case is a monster--just wish it had more space behind the motherboard tray.
I recently went to microcenter and a lot of the cases I was considering before the ft02 look cheap and...
I definitely get caught up sometimes with new shiny tech. I mean, I want to game on that pc, but it can wait a little. I have until the end of November before nvidia's game bundle is gone.
Haha. I've seen people say that on their forums all the time!
Thanks for the advise.
So, here's what I'm going to do:
Return the 290x and have some patience! This price war just started and I have no clue how much the 780ti is going to cost or perform. Might cost $600 and be faster than the...
I hear you on the quiet bug... I have a GD08 full of 1400rpm Gentle a Typhoons running low... thanks to silentpcreview... Haha.
I even have a gentle typhoon for the top fan in my ft02, but low for the bottom fans is good enough for me--I allow it for the workstation.
No doubt the case is...
Supposedly the contrast in sRGB emulation on this monitor isn't the best, but it's always an option, and it sounds like the only one for gaming. Well, unless I want oversaturated colors, which I might not mind on some games.
Thanks for the help. Now I just need to figure out if the extra...
Even in gaming? I know that colors are a personal preference, but certain games look bad oversaturated (the re-released FF7 is a poor but acceptable example).
I should specify that when I calibrate the monitor, I calibrate it for aRGB. I'm sure I can calibrate it to sRGB and it would be the same as using sRGB emulation mode (better contrast for sure, with this specific monitor), but I don't want to have to recalibrate for photo editing.
