Thanks for the heads up. Used those M-Connect things and they worked like a charm. I think one of the connectors I had on wrong somehow. Everything finally posted and got into the bios. I'll get everything going tomorrow as far as windows install, put in the other 6 gigs of memory etc.
Didn't think this was mandatory though. I'm sure it could benefit from an overclocking perspective though. I just want the system to boot and show signs of life before I worry about overclocking.
What are the 'M-CONNECT' things? Were they supplied with the board? I saw some other connectors but figured they were for the OC panel thing or for the voltage check stuff. Also, must the system fan 4 pin be used for the computer to boot? I know that the cpu fan probably needs to be filled, but...
Anyone have an issue with the front panel connectors? According to 2-17 of the manual it says the Power LED is supposed to occupy 2+ and 4-. Thus only 2 slots, but my Power LED occupies 3 slots. I have all of them with the text of the plug description facing up.
Each of my plugs has a small...
Maybe there is a 2x4pin to 8 pin adapter? Like the 2x4 pin to 6 pin adapters that came with my 5850. Otherwise I assume some higher end PSU's would have more than one native to the power supply.
For you Race301.
This is probably a dumb question, but the xfx supplied 4 pin to 6 pin connectors actually have 2-4pin > 6 pin. I assume I only have to plug in one of the 4 pin molex and the other is just if I wanted to hook something else up to it? Also I noticed that those particular 6 pin actually only...
I hope it's okay to ask questions about this board in this thread. I spend the last several hours putting the new system together, only to have no boot whatsoever in the end. I'll spend tomorrow troubleshooting, but first things first I will list the components.
Motherboard: MSI Big Bang XPower...
Also. If I do the 4pin molex to 6pin connector and put that on the board, I noticed the supplied 6pin adapters that came with my 5850 only utilize 5 of the 6 pins. If I look in it, one of them has no metal insert. So would this matter if I used this and not the PCIe dedicated one?
I am using a Corsair 750 HX power supply. It has 4 connectors coming out ( it's modular ) that are just for PCI Express graphics cards. I assume I should just use one of those for the power into the 6-pin on the board? Then two more cables, each going into the two 6pins on the 5850?
Basically...
In the process of building a new comp and I noticed there is a 6-pin connector on the motherboard that is for the PCI-E. However, there are already two 6-pin connectors on the 5850 itself. The instructions say to directly insert two separate 6-pin connectors from the PSU directly into the video...
I think I read on the MSI forums that some people were getting windows corruption with the 7.2 bios. I think this might mainly be due to a raid problem though.
Have a look Here
Yea they really do need to release another bios with the restart/boot fix as well as fixes for higher OC potential. I think some people had raid problems as well with the board.
Yea that seems to be an issue with these latest bios (Incorrect timings) when you use a program via windows it tells you something different from how you set them in the bios.
Hopefully an issue that they'll have corrected in the next official bios release.
