Anyone upgraded their HP A-series 5800/5820 from Comware v5 to v7 yet?

Looks like Comware v7 is finally coming for the HP A-series 5800/5820. Any of you who might have a 58xx installed and running with Comware v7 today? And if so, how did the update from v5 go?

Looks like there is a thread at Intel community forums about this aswell so at least Im not alone: https://communities.intel.com/thread/55120 The sad thing is that this was reported back in mid september and Intel has still not fixed this, I would expect more from Intel... This bug arrived...

Broken BIOS for Intel NUC D54250WYK?

The other day I upgraded the BIOS of the Intel NUC D54250WYK into [WYLPT10H.86A] (WY0033.BIO found at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24536&lang=eng&ProdId=3744). Since I assume there are a few in this forum who got such Intel NUC I wonder if any of you noticed that...

Who, besides Cisco, for enterprise access switches?

Fully agree, however I prefer their A-series (comware-based) over their E-series (provision-based). Currently you have lifetime next business day replacement and email support aswell as free access to firmware updates. 3 year of phone support. You could of course buy an extra 4 hour...

HW firewall for home that supports IPV6 PD of /48 or /56 with DHCPV6

EdgeOS 1.6 seems to do this (alpha2 currently in testing does this): http://www.reddit.com/r/ipv6/comments/2e6el2/ubiquiti_edgeos_16_alpha2_now_has_initial_dhcppd/ https://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX-Beta/IPv6-DHCP-PD-in-v1-6-0alpha2/m-p/973135#U973135 http://www.ubnt.com/beta

    Internet is out of memory?

Yes and no. In a router you can divide the information in various storage: 1) The routing process itself such as BGP (when we talk about Internet) but also other protocols such as ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP etc. 2) The routing process(es) fills an internal database called RIB - Routing...

    HW Firewall for home

For a home setup or a small business office there is no point in having to split up functionality between various equipment. That is if you currently have: Internet - Modem (Bridge mode) - Router - Switch and want to put in a firewall in there I would recommend you to do: Internet - Modem...

    Network pics thread

Im thinking about this one... Looking at that wood-panel its used to isolate whatever is fastened on the wood from whatever the wood itself is fastened to. You can also see some white isolators(?) being used there. Now take a look to the right... this panel seems to be a...

How to secure Protocol-VLAN: what to do with PVID?

Looks like assigning a PVID to unconfigured vlan is possible which seems to be the best option in this case. That is adding this to gi 1/0/1 on SW1: port hybrid pvid vlan 3101 and so on. The PVID will match the ACL number and hey presto, easy to audit :-)

How to secure Protocol-VLAN: what to do with PVID?

Sounds like a good workaround, the drawback is obviously waste of vlan id's (specially with a box with many interfaces). Or for that matter that the "template" (like vlan 4001 for int1 ... vlan 4099 for int99) might break if you need a vlan id from this range for other purpose.

How to secure Protocol-VLAN: what to do with PVID?

Failed to get response at HP's forum so Ill try Hardforum instead :-) A common use for Protocol-VLAN is when you want IPv4/ARP to go into one VLAN and IPv6 into another. Such as: # vlan 100 description R1 protocol-vlan 0 mode ethernetii etype 0806 protocol-vlan 4 ipv4 # vlan...
