Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the VK278Q (same as the VE278Q, only it has a webcam). I could care less about the webcam- it's just that the K model is on sale this weekend for cheaper than the E model.
The worst that happens is I end up not liking it and I send it back for a refund. :)
The only point you made in your post is that the defunct NEC 2409 was twice the cost of the current u2410. So, I added that he didn't even suggest I get that monitor and pointed me at an IPS panel that is significantly cheaper than the u2410.
Which is why, if you read his op, he suggested the readily available Asus PA246Q IPS panel which retails about $100 cheaper than the u2410 online thanks to taxes. With Dell, you cannot avoid the taxes.
If NCX were anti-IPS why would he then suggest an IPS screen? Also, why would he say "Compared to previous good IPS panels like the NEC 2490."? Your argument is invalid.
If anyone is anti- something in this thread it seems to be you with your "TN are shit." statement. Thanks for adding nothing...
Did a little more reading today and found this [H] thread regarding the VE278Q, sounds pretty good. I'd kill for a Fry's closer to where I live so I could check on out in person.
Bonus points about the thread: noticed you had posted in it a few months back! :p
Thanks again for the advice. Has...
Thanks for the input NCX!
I hadn't considered the other two Asus monitors. The LED one is intriguing, I have to say the idea of going up from my current 22"ers to a 27" is a little more appealing that just going up to a 24". Gaming would be a lot more immersive on the 27". I've read that LED...
Just looking for some [H]orde input on the subject. Here's some background info:
Currently using 2 x Samsung 2232bw monitors which I will most likely keep using with the new monitor as my primary. Mentioned this just to show I'm used to TN panel quality and have never had any issues with...
My sincere thanks to everyone. Your input has helped solidify my choice in desk. The Ikea thread is great! So many awesome setups to peruse....so little money to spend. :)
I'm thinking of going with the Galant with T Legs and maybe an extension or two.
Here is my incredibly weak attempt to...
Not sure this counts as "hardware" but to me a good desk is just as important as the hardware I have. My current desk has gone through 4 moves and is getting a little rickity.
Any suggestions for a new one?
So far I am currently considering this desk coupled with some of these for cable...
I recently jumped into the HTPC front and am having problems with the resolution on the PC displaying properly on my HDTV. Here is what I'm working with first:
Equipment:
Sammy LN46A650 w/ HTPC plugged into PC input (VGA)
HP a1710n w/ GeForce 6150 LE integrated graphics running Vista Home...
Curiously, I had very similar cracks happening around the screws on my old 1st gen Macbook which I believe uses the same casing material as the new iPhone 3g. And these stress cracks were definatly not cause by dropping or putting in my pocket. I'm wonder if it is a material/casting defect on...
I've had this problem happen both pre- and post-SP1. It is extremely annoying but not enough for me to switch back to XP, yet. Would love to get a real fix for this.
If you read the white paper on SP3 it is pretty much just an update rollup for the normal user. There are only 2 or 3 new features added to XP from it and those should have no impact at all on gaming (they are mostly to make system admin's lives easier). So if he old XP install was completely...
