Do you really need z390 for 9900k?

Do you really need z390 for 9900k?

I just got a 9900k, and used it on a Hero X. Easily got to [email protected], and its been running Prime95 Smallfft stable for the past hour, no throttling. VRM temp seems to settle around 89*C (no direct airflow, but semi-open case). Hopefully I can get it to 5.1GHz with a bit more work.

MSI GeForce RTX 2070 GAMING Z Performance Review @ [H]

The impact of DLSS can be interesting. We might see performance levels from the RTX 2070 being closer to the 1080 Ti, with the same image quality.

1366 x58 Xeon Enthusiast overclocks club

The Ripjaws V are pretty good value. I have four sticks running at 3200MHz CL14 @1.4v. This is on an Intel x299 system though.

Skylake-X (Core i9) - Lineup, Specifications and Reviews!

So...I clearly lost the silicon lottery with my 7820x (delidded). 4.6GHz at 1.29v is the most it can do. Any higher and my cooling can't keep up. During stress testing the cpu on its own use ~310 watts. How much does a 7900x use with a similar overclock? Considering it can manage with a lower...

Intel Rumors - Kaby Lake-X - Skylake-X and Cascade Lake

As long as Cascade lake will fit into my x299 motherboard, I'm happy.

Anybody undervolt their CPU? Whats your results?

Damn 7820x is impressive (my own chip)

No, no post at all. Just fans spinning and LEDs, and code 00 on the debug LED screen. Should have the new mobo by wednesday, so will be able to confirm then.

Already tried, one of the pins is sort of bent in an s-shape. Gonna need some finer tools to straighten that out.

Godammit...think my motherboard broke :(. Delidded my 7820x (which went fine), and now it refuses to boot, showing code 00. Upon closer inspection one or more of the socket pins have been bent. Ordered a Asus TUF Mk II, which will arrive next week. Just praying that it ain't the CPU that's...

WHO to Designate Gaming Disorder as Mental Health Condition

This is so ridiculous. Gaming (or any other activity) that ruins the rest of your life, is a symptom, not a cause IMO.

Damn 7820x is impressive (my own chip)

Currently running mine at 4.7GHz @ 1.229v stable. Temps are high, but I'm waiting for a delid tool :). Wonder how far I can push this thing... Quick info: Mesh at 3.3GHz, -5 AVX off-set. RAM is 32GB Ripjaws V 2666MHz CL15 running 3200MHz CL17 (got these for a steal on black-friday). MSI x299...

    Intel's 8th Generation Core Family - Coffee Lake (LGA 1151, 6C/12T)

Yep, I come here to read about benchmarks and overclocking, not petty AMD vs Intel fights.

Finally received the rest of the parts! A few beers chillin' in the fridge while I unpack, hopefully I'll have this system up and running in a bit :D
