Indeed! Current policy is for Microsoft to cease supporting Windows Vista Home Basic, Premium, and UItimate Editions April 10, 2012, two years before ending support for all versions of Windows XP. Presently, there is no extended support option for Windows Vista consumer operating systems.
This is old news. Microsoft set the extended support end date of all versions of Windows XP to April 8, 2014 a couple of years ago. Why Information Week thinks this is newsworthy escapes me.
Since AMD isn't elaborating about the "barriers," all we can do is speculate. My guess is they either have production capacity/commitment issues or there may be a manufacturing technology problem. I am going for the high road and betting on OEM commitments being the cause of the delay. With AMD...
