really stupid to upgrade from a 8800gts 640 to a 8800gtx... unless your gonna sell the gts for a good price... n get the 8800gtx for a good price... otherwise just stay with the gts till the end of the year... when the 9000series come out.... or if ur rich get the gtx...

this used to happen to me, and im 100% sure it wasnt an overheating problems, it would load windows, but it wouldn't show the welcome screen, instead of that it would show a screen full of "artifacts" it was all green lil horizontal lines, across all the screen, and i never ovreclocked my 6800...
bet u my life you didnt even try driver cleaner after you reinstalled. and reseat your video card, that used to happen to me when i had my 6800gt, same problem, the only way i got aroudn it was reinstalling my drivers but make sure you use driver cleanr, and it that didnt work for me, i also...
i got the asus overclocked to 600/900 got it up to 660/960 for benchmarks and ran stable and not that hot, and well the gtx is better than the gts in so many levels, look at benchmarks, the gtx is really something else.
