Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

A casual (qualified) glance tells me:
They can't decide what product they are selling or the apps it includes, Home & Business or Professional
Why is there a 30-day redemption limitation? Microsoft does not impose this
Why have...
They will only send discs out for retail versions, OEM is for a reason you know!
Yes that's how to do it and it should work fine. (Well it did for me and has for many others).
CHDA80: You appear to be encountering two issues - the move from XP to Vista, and the move from 32-bit Windows to 64-bit. Your issues are due to the two.
ATM doesn't work because of the 64-bit thing, but it's an old and obselete program anyway and there are many alternatives.
The question...
Could be. There are effectively 3 versions of the full XP Pro, and you need to get the right one for the keys to work:
XP Pro retail
XP Pro oem
XP Pro volume licence
I've been polite and stated the facts as they are. You've been repeatedly rude, shown inability to read properly, ignored what I've written, and instead tried to argue over issues I've never disputed. I never said you couldn't buy academic software without issue, and never said Microsoft would...
CD/DVD drives typically only need UDMA 2 speeds, however modern drives are higher rated than that for compatibility reasons: when you connect 2 drives to an IDE cable then they revert to the slowest mode, hence why an UDMA 5 DVD-ROM is advantageous when pairing with a harddisk.
Pot calling the kettle black? (......and in this case pot's black and kettle's blue)
I didn't say it was; try re-reading what I wrote and where I've quoted you and said you're wrong. In short, academic licencing/pricing ISN'T open to all home users in ANY country (including Australia, if...
Might be due to the interface used in your PC and the way Vista works with it (ie. slightly diff to XP).
With modern mainboards the SATA interface can operate either in legacy mode (acts like IDE) or as AHCI/RAID.
On my computer I've set the BIOS to the latter (AHCI) and you don't get any...
Despite what you say, and your trying to avoid your mistake, that statement is CORRECT. Either yourself, or in some cases another household member, needs to undertake an official (government recognised) educational course. The MS site(s) state so.
Well I'd like to see you argue that to...
Well unless you are undertaking proper study then you'll be breaking the licence terms in using it. It doesn't matter whether academic proof is actually required or not to purchase, the terms of ownership Microsoft state still hold true.
My humble apologies. In my defence I got 2 out of 3 right (only got the keys bit wrong). As I said only the retail Vista Ultimate contains both versions, others require you to send off.
(i) AFAIA only the retail Ultimate edition includes media for both 32 and 64-bit; other versions require you to send off to MS for.
(ii) I think it needs different keys too (though not 100%); these are issued in the process with MS.
(iii) Don't see why not, it would be a corresponding...
I'm 95% sure there's a Microsoft update patch re this (improved HC compatibility for Vista); might be part of Vista updates (so double check) or if not search the MS website/support site.
Same as Windows I believe: OEM = assigned to the one machine, retail = assigned to the person so 'move around' as you like (making sure you remove it as you 'move').
Certain editions of Office allow install on more than one computer; think
retail = main computer + portable
home & student =...
It's happened for two clients I've installed it for. I think it's related to users not shutting the PC down properly (ie. used power button rather than Shutdown). Since two out of two rollouts, and different users, I thought worth the warning.
