HIS Radeon HD 7970 X Turbo Video Card Review @ [H]

The reviewed card is the turbo edition with clocks of 1120/1180; the card on newegg is the regular 7970 x with clocks of 1000/1050. You should revisit the links in the article or add a note to avoid misrepresentation.

What is the best 3D software for 120hz displays & AMD 7970s?

The software that comes with the monitor is tridef based. Install it then install the latest from tridef over. It will then recognize the profiles for most games. If you do eyefinity 3d, you will have to install a patch from tridef also (it is somewhere on the tridef forums)

Just bought an ASUS 7970 DCUII... remorse?

No remorse. But then again I have 3 Samsung s27a950 monitors for eyefinity hd3d, so AMD is the only choice for me (nvidia does not have support for these monitors on 3d). I had a quick remorse when MSI lightning came out, but after I got one and tested it I got back to Asus... So... Happy camper...

    Crossfire and HD3D

I have 3 * Samsung S27A950 and am able to play HD3D crossfire eyefinity. I have tried it only with 12.2 (cannot speak for 12.1) but works fine. I can use Deus Ex with the native HD3D support and have played SWTOR using TriDef driver (they have a fix to unlock eyfinity crossfire). Note: All...

ASUS 7970 DirectCU II available now

The post from Asus might be right, but consider that a lot of users purchase the cars made by a manufacturer: Asus, then they download the monitoring software from the manufacturer page : Asus' own GPU Tweak and that monitoring software reports high temperature... What is their conclusion ? -...

ASUS 7970 DirectCU II available now

This is more of a theoretical question than a practical exercise: I wonder if there is a limit on how many monitors (on which resolution) can you run on the card. Similar with how a single link DVI is limited to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz, or how you have to disable a DP port to run DL-DVI. If...

ASUS 7970 DirectCU II available now

Well, just got the MSI 7970 Lightning. I already have an Asus 7970 DCII. I got the MSI because of the few things I was unhappy with Asus a) the dual link DVI on Asus is producing grain noise artifacts on 2560x1600. So I had to get an DP to DL-DVI adapter (Accell) b) the VRM temp are a bit...

MSI R7970 Lightning Video Card Review @ [H]

wow, nice setup, but you might be SOL. The DVI's are single link. You will need to wait for a card with 6 DP outputs. 7990 might be like that; there was talks that Sapphire might produce a 6xDP variant of 7970.

Some details/pics of the MSI 7970 Lightning

I got Asus in the end and it turns out that the dual link DVI output has some issue. It introduces a fine "grain noise" in the image. So I ended up using an active DP 2 DVI adapter. Thus, per my experience, do NOT go to Asus if you think that you need dual link DVI; just get an active DP 2 DVI...

ASUS 7970 DirectCU II available now

    k. I got a new DVI cable and I still get the same "grain noise" over the dual link DVI connection. I have changed to use an active DP2DVI-DL adapter (the accell variety) and I have no issue that way. To summarize, in my case, dual link DVI introduces "grain noise". If you want 2560x1600, you...

ASUS 7970 DirectCU II available now

I got one from NewEgg. Here is the summary a) it is the model without cutouts for VRM b) the VRM as reported by Asus' own GPU tweak application is 108C under load (SWTOR) (thank you QwaarJet for C vs F correction) c) although the VRM temp seems high, the card is stable (no lockouts, or reboots)...

Some details/pics of the MSI 7970 Lightning

Actually, none are DVI-DL (dual link)... MSI web site specifies that both DVI ports are single link (one DVI-D and one DVI-I). Details are at http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7970-Lightning.html#?div=Overview in the "Video Output Functions" section.
