Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thanks for the quick replies.
I will probably get the 8600gt if there will be a big difference.
To record HD video to the HDD, do I need a TV tuner, or does the mobo have that built in? If I need one then can you reccomend one?
I want to build a HTPC that can play Blu-rays and record at least 2 HD shows at a time to the HDD. I am using a 60" Sony 1080p Projection HDTV.
Here is what I have come up with so far:
Case: $115 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129034
Hard Drive: $90...
I would not get that PSU, I would go with a more trusted brand like Thermaltake or Corsair.
This Thermaltake PSU is modular (removable cables), has 850W, can power 4 PCI Express cards, has 62A (744W) on the 12V, and comes with a 5 year warranty...
This quote tells me that my current power supply is strong enough, so I probably won't have to bother putting in a new power supply anyways.
I have 28 Amps (336W / 12V = 28 Amps) or two 18amp rails, the power supply has 336W on the 12V, 350W total power.
I will get a 9600gt first, if it doesn't get enough power then I will get a new power supply and remove some of the metal on back of the case. Would this work: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00931297000P?vName=Tools&cName=Hand+Tools%2C+General+Purpose&sName=Files+%26+Rasps
Then I think I will just buy the 9600GT, thanks for the reply :)
The worst thing that can happen is that it doesn't get enough power, if that happens then I could just get a refund from Newegg within 30 days, or look at getting a new psu.
what would be the best video card that my 350w dell psu could power safely?
because I will be ok with graphics less powerful than a 9600gt. anything when upgrading from a x300se will be amazing.
