Hello everyone. Since Newegg has had these in and out of stock for a bit now, I figure it would be best to start a consolidated thread to help owners sort out through the myriad of issues this board has (and, boy, it has some problems).

A note on RAM: If 2 x 8GB at 3200MHz sounds good to you, these sticks will work with the 3200Mhz XMP profile.

New problem with my board...I'm having a hard time installing windows with this board. There are no USB 2.0 on it. When I tried to install windows 7, once it is loaded to first screen during installation, USB keyboard is not detected. Keyboard and mouse work just fine in BIOS but not with windows 7 installation.

I then tried to install windows 10. Now keyboard and mouse are detected just fine...problem is..it gets stuck on installing updates step during installation.

Now I just bought a PS2 keyboard from amazon...I hope PS2 keyboard will be detected when I try to install windows 7 this friday. I prefer win 7 for now.

If I have to use windows 10...anyone got any solution for stuck at installing updates?

Not sure what to tell you. I created a bootable USB using Microsoft's supplied tool for a Windows 10 install. Worked just fine.

I will try that, maybe my version of windows 10 is old..it's from more than 1 year ago. Thanks.

There should be a w7 compatibility mode in bios?

Use Asrock "Win7 USBPatcher.exe". It will inject required drivers in Win7 image.

For anyone not using the internal USB 2.0 header I think I have a decent solution for the lack of onboard WiFi/Bluetooth.
It could be that extending the analog portion of the signal might be too noisy, so maybe a USB extension cable should be used to feed the entire WIFI adapter to the outside of the case. I don't know.

Haha, one problem after another. So I got my PS2 keyboard today and plugged in.
BAM, windows 7 installation recognized the keyboard and I was able to proceed the installation till a message popped up saying missing driver for USB which is usually associated with USB 3.0.
I was using external USB DVD drive.
Since this board doesnt have ano USB 2.0..I went to storage and grabbed a SATA DVD drive and that problem went away.

In conclusion, I wish this board has 2 USB 2.0 ports for keyboard/mouse and external drive. They are not necessary if you are using windows 10.
If you really want to use windows 7 like me...you need a PS2 keyboard and SATA disk drive.

Now I'm installing windows 7. Everything should be going smoothly from this point on.

EDIT: I was wrong...now I have booted into windows 7 desktop, I still dont have control with my USB mouse. SHIT! Gonna try something else. I will post back.

I wish someone could get a A12-9800 from one of those HP machines, and see how well his board handles and overclocks an APU.

Man, you really should consider installing the faster, better supported Windows.

I did....I just dislike how MS is forcing windows 10 on me. I will switch to win 10 at some point, not now. I did use win 10 for 3 months last year though.

Are you using the yellow keyboard/mouse ports? Dunno if your board has them, but (at least in bios) my keyboard and mouse wouldn't work in any other port. Edit: yeah, this one doesn't have them. They were the ports mated with the ps/2 port on my board.

Deepcoiler hit 'n' and enter bios. If you have no tpm, then disable it in bios. Otherwise, try configuring it manually from inside the bios.

I had the same problem as Deepcoiler, I reseted the TPM with Y. Since I did not have Bitlocker I figured it was fine ;D

I have two minor problems, maybe you guys have any ideas.

1.) I bought the Corsair DDR4 3000MH ram but its only running on 2166MHZ. Its even on the compatibility list of Biostar (link) and should support at least 2400MHZ. But once I start changing the value on the BIOS, the system is trying to boot a few times but fails. The settings were reseted to the default values. Guess I have to wait for further BIOS updates? Or do I have to change other settings like the voltage?

2.) The temps on the BIOS are extremly high (up to 80°) and the CPU cooler is running on high speed. But when I boot into windows, HwInfo shows an idle temps between 30° and 40° and the fan is much slower. Its like the CPU (R7 1700) is running on full speed during the UEFI. I thought I may have made an mistake with the cooler installation but since the temps are fine on Windows I am a little bit clueless? Is this normal behaviour?

Not sure about your temp problem. Mine sits a little lower than 40C as seen in BIOS. Once it is booted into windows, it's mid 30's.

This isn't helpful at all to your issue....but how on earth did you actually get one of these? I've never seen it in stock.

Guess I got lucky? :D

I live in Germany and got it from Caseking. I ordererd it only a few days after it was listed and they got the first delivery in the beginning of May. Currently it says its in stock ¯\(ツ)/¯

Dang. Yep. I see it. Not sure I want it badly enough to try and deal with international shipping....I'll send you a few pairs of Levis jeans in exchange for yours? That would have totally worked in the 80s.

They're gone. Lasted about 25 minutes before going out of stock. I was lucky enough to refresh the page when I did, managed to get one.

Spirits crushed.

They probably only got 100 of these in today, and within a few minutes of going up there were posts up on reddit about it - no surprise they didn't last. I would check back on Friday - I heard that there might be additional stock.

Ugh. I already waste enough work time here, now updating my newegg app every 30 seconds....nothing getting done this week!

I'm not even sure it will be worth it for this board. It's an awful situation to be in, to have this Biostar be the only current option for ITX. Let's see if it even plays nice. I'm pairing it with the G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB 3000mhz cas14 (Samsung B-Die) kit, hoping for good compatibility. The Samsung stuff seems to play nice with Ryzen at the moment.

I just want to build, I set aside some fun money last year for a Ryzen/Vega build and still waiting....I figure I can at least toss my RX480 into a Ryzen box while waiting for Vega, but no good boards, no Vega....hrmf. I have zero need for a full ATX case. Debated the nifty Riotoro case with a full ATX board but I really want something tiny. Have a Sugo case now and I'm kind of used to that footprint.

I feel bad for you....I got the email from newegg saying it is in stock. I already bought it almost 2 weeks ago...

I got the notification email from the last batch but didn't check out in time due to waffling on whether I REALLY needed it or not. This time, as soon as I received the notification, I added to cart and checked out. Worked AOK. If you still want one, definitely hit up the Newegg notifications.

All right, I am really needing some help on this. I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 that was in my Phenom II build. I transferred this card to my Biostar X370GTN with Ryzen 7 1700 build. I have tried this new computer of mine with two different monitors and upon powering it on I get no video out. I can carry it into the living room, plug it into the TV using the same cable, and it boots up and displays video just fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I am assuming some freak issue with the BIOS but I have no idea how it could be fixed other than by getting a different card, which I wasn't planning to do for a little while.

If you install windows over pxe you'll never ever run in to compatibility issues.

Windows 7 too...

Ok so I've been testing this MB with ryzen 1500x for past two days, and it generally works ok, no problems or hiccups. But it does miss few options in UEFI.

First is lack of option for setting how many times is UEFI going to attempt overclock settings, so if boot fails, you are going to wait for some time until it loops and resets settings.

But that's not a big deal. Really big deal, at least for those who want to overclock, is lack for setting the CPU multiplier. There is an BCLK option, up to 107.3 mhz, but that's very limiting and it wouldn't boot past around 104 mhz setting, at least for me, even with big voltage bump. Yes, you can use shitty (buggy, crashes, limited options) ryzen master software, but common. I could hit 4 ghz there so CPU isn't the problem.

So I hope that either I'm not seeing it, or that it will come in newer versions. Other things work fine, nvme support it fine, no problem there.

You can set the pcie bus to gen2 or gen1 on other boards. At higher bclk this is sometimes necessary to allow the pcie devices on the bus to function, or in some cases it's necessary if you want to boot at all.

Good info, didn't know that, thanks! :) I will check if that option is present. I doubted that pcie has to be the problem since memory and cpu shouldn't have problem with higher bclk. Well, I miss the old days with blue BIOS-es and options like setting pcie multiplier :)

I have recently purchased this motherboard and im having issues with it, I hope someone can help or has seen similar.

The issue I am seeing is that after about 30 seconds of booting onto windows 10, the monitor switches off but the board remains running, before this occurs windows freezes. Occasionally I will see the bsod (with critical process died followed by a freeze) but this is rare. I have also seen the same issue when testing ubuntu.

I have tested a different graphics card and the same issue occurs. I believe this may be a memory compatibility issue. I am running the latest bios (x37ak413.bss) and have installed G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB DDR4-3200MHz memory (F4-3200C15D-16GVK - CL15-15-15-35). I have attempted to run this memory on "Auto" and "XMP1 3200(15-15)" Memory clock modes (and attempted various manual frequencies / timings) and also attempted to overclock the various voltages, setting DDR Memory Voltage as high as 1.444v. All my attempts have failed and the system is always unstable, with the same black screen on OS issue.

The other components which I have in the system are as follows:

Ryzen 1700

Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 heatsink / fan

Geforce 1070 Zotac Mini

Corsair SF600 PSU

Samsung 1TB NVMe SSD 960 Evo m.2

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated, im starting to loose the plot with this now!
Does this sound like it could be a memory issue or perhaps a red herring?

Try memory on lower clock, like 2133 for start. Theres no garantie that it will work on high speeds, thats overclocking, it can work but its not 100% that it will.
