DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

i will go with the sf 450 too, it just has the better power circuit then the silverstone
From what I understood, the main difference and why the sf450 is more quite is because it has a better fan-control. The silverstones seem to spin-up the fan more keeping the unit at lower temps and thus being slightly more noisy.

Look at these graphs from toms hardware:

Notice how the 450 hardly ever leaves the 25dBA area.

I've also heard some type of (very minor) coil whine from all Silverstone PSU's i've used, but not yet from the Corsair.. Just for personal experience.

Every now and then it's available for a couple of days. Just preorder one and you'll get it in the next three to six weeks.

Anyone thought about the Alpenföhn Silvretta?

I researched it a while ago and came to the conclusion that it wasn't all that great, but I can't remember exactly what it was and where I got the information from. I think it was a review that reported less-than-stellar performance compared to other coolers with similar dimensions, but since I don't have a source it's not much to go on... :p

do they ship in all europ?( france)

difficult to order in norway...

I would probably just wait for it to come back in stock wherever you would normally order from :)
The price 300dkk is ~ 40 euro, and I don't know if they send to other than DK, SWE and NO..

Could you define heavy load (prime, other benchmarks, games)? And how noisy does it get? Haven't mounted it onto my mobo yet.

Sure, have used Prime, Aida64 and a last one I have forgotten the name of, but also gaming.

But it's pretty hard to describe, all depends - do you sit close to tower or is it tucked away, is there any noise dampening and so on...
CknSalad 's link might give an indication.
With huge lacking descriptive skills, I would say something in the way of: For browsing and such it of course runs at 0 RPM, and a complete silent PC is still mindboggling to me. When I fire up a game it gets the little revs and goes a little up and down. Sure, it is audible, but not too bad (it goes near 100% fan speed just to clarify). With headset on I hear nothing (this is with SFF tower right at my feet, no panels on, no additional cooling fans) Perhaps a PlayStation 3 running with fans at full speed could be compared to it at 100% fan speed.
I have my old rig next to it in a Fractal Design Define R5, which I always have considered very quiet. Comparing the two, the Cryorig build is louder at full load, but not by that much.

I was a little nervous that my whole setup was going to be loud, but have zero issues with the level it is at, and as said earlier it is at its most audible setup possible at the moment, so it's only going to get less noisy from there.
So yeah, adjust fan curve, put it behind your sofa or something, and I don't think it's that bad.

I have not done the “100% fan speed while another person watches TV in the same room – does he get annoyed” test, but will be happy to perform it, if it would help ;)

I hope that was somewhat helpful, if not it was at least long.

Very helpful, thank you!

I will be using this for gaming in the living room and watching some stuff online so not having a vacuum cleaner on while trying to enjoy, say, HBO is high on my priority list. My current HTPC unfortunately gets way too loud.

Glad to be of help. Well when watching stuff online, I'm pretty sure you can expect 0 dB - only noise when gaming.

Important edit: ...depending if you have OC'ed or not ;) (can only speak for my currently non OC'ed 6700k)

GIGABYTE GA-Z170N-WIFI (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard - Newegg.com

Can someone tell me if this is a good motherboard for the Dan A4. Everything about it looks good, the only thing that has me concerned are people telling me about the SATA connectors in the comments. They say it might not work with the Dan A4? Can someone clarify for me who is more knowledgeable. Ive been researching building my first pc for a while now, but motherboards still confuse me. Thank you!

Any Z170 chipset would probably be overkill in this system.
Z170 has its advantages over H170, but I hope even Dan will agree that this case isn't designed with overclocking in mind.
I think it would be best to run a stock clocked fan-cooled system, and that tells me to use H chips and avoid Z chips.

The case probably can handle some overclocking, but probably not much.

Do you have turbo-mode on as well as undervolting? What voltages are you running at when gaming? I have read that you can pretty much run the i7 6700K at around 1.17V @ 4.2GHz and 1.2V for 4.3GHz.

I have read the Gigabyte boards even the cheaper Z170n-wifi can throttle the cpu under heavier loads due to lackluster vrm. Personally, I would not mind just getting a Asus Z170i Pro for the extra ports, faster ram, as well as m.2 ssd support as well as run the i7 6700K at 4.2GHz undervolted at around 1.18V

I preordered a Silver unit but if anyone has a black and wants to trade let me know! (will match my new setup better)

Located in the US, SoCal area.

I was having some heat issues (due to me being a moron) so i got it as low as possible, which means it is currently running at 4GHz with 1.160V (For some reason BIOS keep displaying 1.136V despite my override, oh well...) with turbo-mode enabled and no multi core enhancement. I'm thinking this is the low-temp starting point for me, when I get it all in the DAN (that just sounds wrong) I can work it up from there until things starts to melt.
As for voltages when gaming... well I have yet to find software to display "correct" values (E.g. only latest CPUID HWMonitor version is able to display my motherboard info, and it is way of) so no idea to be honest.

1.17V (Or 1.168V) @ 4.2GHz is also what I have heard and tried out, which ran stable by the way. They sure do not need much.

Hey guys.
I bought an Asus Maximus VII Impact as i wrote some posts before. Just wanna give you Feedback on the "SupremeFX II" Soundcard, which has an ALC 1150.
One big reason i bought this mainboard was the soundcard... i hoped to get a decent mic quality.
But yea, the mic quality is pretty much the same bullshit as on the most motherboards...
Just wanted to tell you, that you should keep in my that you maybe need another solutions for your sound.

Because i already have an usb interface i bought an condensator mic for it and now the quality is as it should be.

There are few mainboards out there, where the mic quality is decent. But i hadnt any luck with onboard sound so far... just stupid noise and wheezing in the background from some inteferences.

The audio quality is actuale not that bad, but the mic input is just useless

If i had bought that mainboard for the full UVP and not used, i would go crazy and get my money back..

Glad that i can find solution for my build, before i get the case :) all is ready to go

Mocking up increased surface area ideas for potential overclocking. I'll bend, break, cut, weld. Maybe add heat pipes and attach to the frame. I see a little space.

What's the size of the power button and the size for the hole for it?

How is the power button held to the chassis?

Can you post some pictures of the interior side of the front part of the chassis, so we can see how the button is held?

Thanks dan!

The hole diameter is 15.20mm the powerbutton diameter is 15mm

I think these are the pictures you are looking for:

powersw47rrc.jpg

power_button.12nxqdr.jpg

- the button is attached to the outer surface
- the power switch PCB is attached to the inner body
- the sping for the power button is not included in this drawing

Thank you Dan!

I was looking old posts about how the design has changed, and in the begining the front face of the case had a gap on the sides, because of the button...

Then you changed that, and that's the gapless front design we can see now...

I was just wondering how you made it...

Great job!!!

Dan, I saw the last picture that the cases were stamped are we still on for an ETA sometime this month? Sorry I don't mean to be that guy, I'm just really excited and didn't see anything for after that photo.

Dondan, are you still planning to offer tempered glass side panel option?
This thing was beautifull.
I hope it will be offered and that it will be compatible for both side.

beautifull, but very hot :)

dondan is the next batch going to have changes based on feedback from the kickstarter batch or are they going to be identical?

Also do you have more pictures to share? Inquiring minds want to know :D

UPDATE: Here is the next update.

Shipment:

In the last weeks I plan the container shipping with DHL Global Forwarding. So I have a shipping date of the container.

The container ship will leave Taiwan on 22.11.2016. Now it comes to the bad news, I will get the cases in the first week in January 2017.

This means shipment will start in January and not December. I think I am able to ship 400-600 cases every week. So the shipment process should be done after 3-4 weeks. Shipping will be start with the European countries. International shipping has more overhead because of dealing with the German customs.

Shipping-Software
Furthermore I plan the shipment process. Therefore I am currently developing my own shipment application. Yes I do it by my own, because I can customize it to my requirements.

This software will do the shipment process in five steps automatically.

1.) Assign case serial numbers to the order in database
2.) Sending shipment request to DHL Webservice, automatically printing label form DHL shipment response
3.) If necessary print customs paper
4.) Automatically create bill and print it
5.) Automatically sending info mail to backer that include tracking number

Window Kit
Meanwhile I finalized the window kit with Lian Li and ordered some samples today.

Dayumn, that Container takes long... gonna hire some Pirates to get it earlier :D

Thanks for the update :)

Probably for the best, by Q1 2017 we should have kaby lake, 1080ti, Vega...maybe some new monitors too.

Even though I would like the case as soon as possible , I wouldn't use it just yet, except for having something to have wet dreams about.

I will probably start my build in february. As I'm not gaming all that much at the moment I'm prioritizing a quiet build. A four core Zen, Cryorig C7, a mid-end GPU, Cryorig C7 and SF450 will be my choice. The only question is what SSD I would choose. :)

Yo, got a really big (well small really) rig planned for this case using a titan x pascal/ 1080ti and a Xeon E5-2630 V4, so basically I was wondering when the case will be available for purchase for people that didn't get a chance to back the kickstarter?

How much clearance is it to the side panel when using a Noctua L9i + 25mm thick fan? Specifications says 48mm, which that combo would equal to, but is there a few spare millimeters left?
