20% off Samsung 840's including Pro's

Says "The promo code SA20MAR has reached its maximum redemption and is no longer valid."

Newegg can go eat a dick.

EDIT: Right as I was checking out apparently.

Fuck Newegg and their damn pitiful maximum redemptions on their coupons! I had the 256GB pro in my cart, but dragged my feet trying to decide between it and the 500GB non-pro. Oh well, I really wouldn't be able to use it for a few months, at least, anyways.

Hopped onto the main page from an E-blast and saw the promo. Even as a one day thing they should have honored it for the full day. I phoned Newegg and they intend to both A) keep the promo ad running and B) still refuse to honor by saying the funds allocated from Samsung have been exhausted (if somebody calls and asks).

I can understand if they want to kill the promo early based on a manufacturer stated reason, assuming such is true in the first place, although it does result in bad PR. But to not take down the advertisement from the main page is seriously uncool and results in a zero egg rating!

Edit:
Oh yeah, I forgot to add that the Newegg did "graciously" offer me a "special" discount of 15$ off my total order of 2x 512 840 Pros rather than the full 20% that is still being shown on the front page of the website. Thanks but no thanks.

Lol, Im in the same boat as you guys. The funny part is people will catch on from our mistakes/weren't able to order right away, and will learn to not buy from newegg. I'm just glad Frys can price match and amazon's prices are close as well.
FUCK NEWEGG.

GO AMAZON, or other stores that price match!

Unfortunately Amazon has a 1-2 month back order on the 512GB pro drives and, at least for me, prime shipping is on track to be late with the 2x 256GB 840 pro drives I ordered from them yesterday. I must have great karma or something.

Everyone on the "fuck newegg" band wagon sounds mad haha

/inserts smiley face

I picked up the 840 Pro 256GB. Now I have an 830 256GB that's arriving in the mail today I don't need. Talk about bad timing.

Ha, did you also bite on that $150 830 256GB deal from TigerDirect not long ago?

Also, what's wrong with Newegg again? They've always been awesome for me. So has Amazon, but I really don't get the supposed hate towards Newegg all of a sudden. Is it just because of this whole new Amazon campaign that suddenly we're supposed to not like Newegg? Because that's stupid. Both Newegg and Amazon are top notch companies with excellent customer service.

If you want the 250gb, Tiger still has it for $180 I think... still have to pay shipping but together I think it's roughly the same cost as the newegg promo+free shipping cost

This was pretty lame. I was about to order one for a family member's computer, and had it in my cart ready to go and everything. A few minutes on the phone with the said family member to confirm and afterward the code was no longer valid.

Are we at the point now where coupons come out and are only good for a few hours?

I ended up ordering the drive on Amazon. If Newegg did this as a PR stunt, it failed, hard.

" The promo code SA20MAR has been closed and is no longer active. "

Another reason to add to my "Do not shop at newegg." list.

Wanted the 256GB to replace the one in my Y500 and throw my kingston 120gb in a different machine.

All of the sudden? LOL wake up, if all of these people have been saying fuck newegg there is a reason. This thread alone is proof, the sale started this morning then by the end of the day the coupon is gone, because of reaching a coupon limit... wtf is that?
I'm going to admit that I saw the sale this morning when I was getting ready for work, and didn't bite, my fault but the Frys close to me didn't have any in stock so I didn't get it.

I'll continue to wait, been waiting already so checking SD and CL everyday has been worth it for me already.

Also congrats to the people that got in on the deal, but sitting back and saying umad is funny as hell, this drive will go down in price (no shit). The even funnier part is when the price goes LOWER than what was originally posted (at $192.xx), those that got in on the deal are going to call newegg and ask if they can be paid the difference. WOW
I have never done that and never will, dont want to deal with customer support!! Good luck! :D

Good to know. But I'm more than excited for the 830 :)

Dude, the deal is dead. It's not the end of the world, as that happens with every site. They even let you know the deal is dead. Would you rather they just submit your order and then a day later refund your money and cancel your order without even telling you? Because that's exactly what TigerDirect does. But please, don't let me stop you from being over-dramatic.

You can thank slickdeals for coupon codes lasting for only a few minutes.

Who is being over dramatic? You came in here asking why all the newegg hate when the answer is right in front of you. Also Newegg is anti [H], or doesn't want to deal with them, so once again wake up!

I just checked newegg and they are still advertising the 20% off on their front page, so much for letting us know!

The reason for the disdain towards Newegg, besides them pulling crap like this, is that they massively cut their commission percentage to [H] and then (IIRC) pulled it entirely after Kyle pointed that out and beefed up support and awareness for Amazon. The sales commissions are one factor in why this forum is free and devoid of intrusive ads, so buying from Amazon helps make sure things stay that way while buying from Newegg does not. Newegg cited their reason for cutting the commission rates as basically "Screw existing, long-time customers; we want to focus our efforts on securing new customers."

Deal is dead. Im sure there will be alot more deals on these.

I got my 2 840s for a better price at Microcenter about a month ago.

840s suck at writing speeds. My OC AGility 4 in RAID 0 has faster write speeds than my 840s in RAID 0.

I think SAmsung will update the 840 before the end of the year to a better performing model.

Deals like these with promo codes always get killed before the promotion is suppose to end when it hits SlickDeals front page.

Pick your poison.

Newegg BS's with promos (and cuts funding for [H]

TigerDirect has sub-par shipping (really TD? 3x two-TB HDDs in 1 box with a single bag of air?)

Amazon sometimes takes upto a week to ship

eBay is best deal but it's a grab-bag and you end up having to get a PayPal Buyer Protection refund around 10% of the time on high-end items...

AFAIK there isn't a single site that's 100% reliable today... If anyone knows of a site that ships fast, doesnt BS sales, and packs properly, please let me know

Amazon with Prime is pretty darn close to perfection. I realize Prime is an extra cost, but we were able to sign up for $40 (after a 6-month free trial) because my girlfriend is in grad school so it was kind of a no-brainer. I haven't had to use Amazon CS, but I hear it's better than Newegg's also.

It is.

Actually yesterday I ordered a dog bark collar for someone, I put in his shipping address and everything, but somehow (next day, even though I selected two day shipping) it found its way to my place.

I called them, they said Okay, we're sorry, we'll ship it to the right place.

Five minutes later, I got an email confirmation, grand total was $0, 1 day shipping, and they didn't even ask for the item they gave me, which totaled $50.

The only little bonus of going to newegg is they dont take sales tax, amazon does.

I have no idea why everyone is so negative about Newegg. I have ONLY had good experiences with the company, and I buy a ton of goods from them. Granted, I pick and choose what I buy from Newegg... focusing on their Daily Deals. And I typically buy processors elsewhere (from [H], Ebay, MC). But I have gotten incredible deals from Newegg over the last year.

But you gotta buy in bulk when the price is right! I loaded up on DDR3 when it was $25-$30 for 2 x 4GB, got dirt cheap prices on SSDs in October and November 2012. I buy almost all my cases from Newegg.

I agree that people tend to be over-dramatic regarding Newegg. F*CK Newegg because they ran through their allotment of Samsung discount $$? That is a limit put on by Samsung, and you should blame the person who posted it on SlickDeals. You missed it and too bad. But grow up and stop whining! And get ready and move faster the next time the thing you want is on sale.

I guess you missed the part where they continued to advertise the Samsung promo on their front page for an hour or more after the deal was dead

If they had good CS still, and didnt screw Kyle and [H]ardOCP over, they might have a better rep around here.

As it stands, Amazon gets all my PC business now, even if it costs me a bit more. The CS there is worth it when I have an issue (rarely in all the years I've bought from them), and Kyle and [H]ardOCP benefit from it. Compare that to the horrid CS I've gotten from NE in the past and how they tried to screw Kyle over on the comission links....

This was a good deal on those drives, but there will be better down the road, and I'm patient enough to wait for an Amazon sale. ;)

Thank you! This exactly what I'm trying to say. I get the whole "support Hard Forums by shopping with Amazon", and that's fine and totally understandable. But the blind hate for a legit site from some of the users here is just silly.

Huh? Amazon.com is one of the best merchants ever, it is close to perfect like others mentioned. With prime I usually get next day delivery even if I don't ask for it. I'd say 90% of the time if I place a timely order, I get it the next day and I only select two day shipping at checkout - which is free. Additionally, their returns are TRULY no hassle. They will even pay for return shipping on defective items. Heck, these days if I place a 2nd day order on Friday a lot of times i'll get it delivered on saturday by FedEx for free. Amazon.com is awesome.

You're not using 3rd party sellers are you? You should only buy from amazon and not amazon market place sellers. Amazon LLC is certainly one of the best places to buy from, and their CS is amazingly good. They really do put newegg to shame.

If the item is sold by amazon itself then it will never take a week to ship. Usually it is shipped the same day for me and usually delivered a day early. I dont know how they do it, but they do. The reasons for the delay in your case could be, the item wasn't in stock when you ordered, you ordered from third party. If the item is in stock and sold by amazon it ships quickly and I have bought a lot of shit on amazon.

Even with tax, I find myself paying the additional 3.99 to get SAME DAY delivery for items in my local warehouse.

Just two days ago, I needed a cheap power supply to replace one in a tertiary system (wife's PC). Got on the egg, used [n]ewzon, ordered from azmazon at 11:15 AM and got it at 6:00 PM that SAME evening. Even with tax and the shipping price, the PSU was only 6 bucks more than the Egg price. Same day delivery is worth it.

BB.

Just bought a replacement UPS Battery from Amazon with Prime, 2 Day shipping its mean but it showed up on time!

that had to cost a lot in shipping!

Selling computer gear is a VERY tough business. Margins are very low, especially when you factor in the expense of returns (and if you read the reviews on Newegg, you know people are always sending back good products because they don't know what they are doing or they blow them up), etc. It is a hard business, and you have no idea what Newegg's financial situation is. I wish Newegg would support [H], but I don't blame them for not doing it. Unless you have seen their financial statements, your anger may be unjustified.

I blame Newegg for continuing to run advertisements after they are no longer honoring the promotion. That is what a good chunk of the hate in this thread has been and is about.

The pair of 256GB 840 Pro SSDs I ordered from Amazon actually ended up arriving several hours early (Amazon really does need to improve its tracking info). Moreover, the 256GB drives were still cheaper than Newegg's "check your shopping cart" price on the same model. Hell Amazon was still cheaper than the oh so special 15$ credit Newegg was going to offer as a one-time "bonus" for their bait and switch.

A 20% off sale on SSDs, even when Newegg sets its base price above the general retail level, was a good deal and the willful failure to not budget accordingly and worse to continue promoting it after that time is what drives away the loyal business of people who not only spend thousands a year on overblown e-peen tech but who also are the same people that influence the shopping locations of those who are onl occasional tech buyers.

Whoa, where is this if you don't mind me asking? I wish there was a same day delivery here. There's an amazon warehouse 30 minutes away from me, hence free 2 day shipping is usually next day. Fine by me ;)

I am sure Newegg's promotions are mainly automated, or maybe they had an agreement with Samsung to promote the deal for a certain amount of time in order to get the 20% off discount money? You just don't know why the offer was promoted after it sold out. I don't think they promoted it for long, and I feel confident it wasn't a wicked scheme... There are MANY reasonable explanations that don't involve Newegg being evil or underhanded.

There are so many conspiracy theorists on this board. Relax, be happy!

Newegg's promo codes are generated for a certain number of uses based on the amount of funds set aside for it and when it's used up the code goes dead. This offer was up all day and when it hit SlickDeals front page hundreds of orders started pouring through. Those of you that missed out should of been watching this forum or SlickDeals more closely and got your order in while you had plenty of time.

I have no idea. What I know is I ordered some text books for a college course, chose expidited shipping (the fist place I ordered my books from sent the wrong edition) and I was over a week into the course before I got it (roughly two weeks from clicking "place order" to it arriving at my door)

I am 99.9% sure that you didn't order from amazon.com directly and instead ordered from a 3rd party merchant. I order textbooks as well and it is without exception never sold by amazon. I believe you bought from a 3rd party seller.

Amazon simply never takes an a week to fulfill an order if it is *from* amazon.com. Keep in mind that there are 3rd party sellers as well. You do not want to buy from them ever unless you absolutely have to, always buy only from amazon LLC.....They will give you a shipping ETA as you check out and orders will generally always ship same day unless you place it very very late.
