Yeah you can trace snipers and the auto lock on works with the CG and RPG7, I frequently do that when defending on Isla Innocetes when I get bored waiting for more choppers. Get a bunch of people complaining of hax and stuff because there's no warning they have a tracer dart on them

Unless they saw it fly at them or it hit them in the face they think it's just an incredibly lucky shot, passes the time until they get off their asses :)

I once knifed an enemy behind a door; the door broke and then he died as well.
 
You can knife through ceilings as well, I frequently jump and knife my way through windows and a few times before I've inadvertently knifed an enemy on the floor above me.

Knife mechanics are stupid, they need to go with a CoD style knife, closer range and no lock on + lunge.
 
i ran up behind a tank last night. enemy jumps out to repair, so i go to knife him and BAM my knife locks onto the side of the tank and i'm stuck LOL

i was LOLing so friggen hard I died and couldn't continue for another minute.

I'm gonna have to move my steam folder from my ssd to the other hdd. So that I'll be first to the tank/choppa. Unless my cpu isn't fast enough to compile shaders.
 
I feel like there have been a lot of trolls lately in the hardforum, or just an influx of new members, hard to say.

Badges and whatnot should keep you occupied for a while. I ended up setting myself goals like getting gold with every weapon and gadget, for example.

I haven't played this game since I hit 50. But glad to see there's still a boatload of people playing it. I'll be back with you guys when BF3 comes out.

Towards the end of my run towards 50, this is what I did. If I remember correctly, I gold starred every weapon. And for those of you that haven't tried, 100 kills with the worst weapons in the game can really be a frustrating task. On the other side, it also helps you discover fun weapons that you never would have tried. Just be ready for your KDR to go down.

Right now I'm platinum'n a majority of smg for engineers. After I platinum the at4, I'm gonna move onto using the shotguns with mines. It's getting harder to level up. I've been able to level once a week but slowed down due to other responsibility now.

I thought it was me when my KDR went down when I was trying to gold star every weapon.
Glad to know I wasnt the only one who experienced this.
 
I am so close to 46 and have almost platinum all the assualt weapons just working on the last need 350 then that is done. after that I guess I have too work on my medic,sniper or engineer weapons. I did the math I need to get 27 more platinum weapons to reach 50. I find it so hard to play now and find a good server with admin's. Every server I play on has alot of high ping players and I find that most of my bullets doen't even register, its almost like I am shooting out candy and throwing gum drops. I don't know if I can bring myself for the last 4 levels

play medic with the MG36 and you will reach 50 by the end of next week. took me 18 hours to platinum the MG36, 21 hours to platinum the XM8 LMG. i already have 5 gold stars with the Saw in just over 8 hours.

with the MG36 use the default red dot sight with the ammo upgrade as your spec 1. the default red dot sight is the best scope in the game in my opinion. with the ammo upgrade it gives you an extra 200 rounds in reserve.
 
Yeah, the MG36 is kind of amazing in close quarters....or at range....or sniping. But I've fallen into a tendency to run around as a recon with a shotgun, even on big maps.
 
Im tellin ya, easiest way to absolutely destroy the other team, is close range sniping.

I consistently top scoreboards, have easily 3.0+ K/d's, plant bombs, defend mcoms, etc. etc.

If you played a lot of DOD, its almost like the Kar 98. love it.
 
Is it just me or Vietnam is pretty much almost dead? I wanted to hop in the other day but was disappointed to find only a few decently populated servers are left (In Europe), there used to be tens back when it was released.

Oh well, back to vanilla
 
Yeah Nam has died down. I blame the chopper vs tank issue and maps mostly. The game itself is great for infantry. Just too easy to get packed into your main on too many maps. Plus, it feels like you are playing with smaller soldiers somehow.

Right now for medic im using the XM8 LMG with 4x optics and mag ammo. I want to save the mg36 for last cause I enjoy it and pretty good with it. The saw is my fav out of them it just sucks at long range. I am not looking forward too the pkm and the m60 cause they are the noob cannons I don't want to people to be like get a real gun noob. when ever I play medic I have a bad team mates and have to switch to assault to change things up.

Yeah, if I run Recon, my favorite rifle is the SVU, ESPECIALLY if no kill cam.
Like to hide in our (former) base after being overrun on Rush....
 
Does anyone know of a fix for the friggen Punkbuster "Losing Key Packets 9003" error?

I've tried manually updating PB

I can't stay in a server for more than 10 minutes, and no it's not my ping. I've tried local and distant servers. It ONLY does this to me in BC2, no other game gives me problems. It started a few days ago, this is a new thing for me.
 
its a punkbuster glitch, though it came in handy for me since i started getting the error when i was using my usb wireless NIC.. started getting the error a week later all my back panel USB ports died.. worked find in my front ports though. so it could be a sign your router or network cards going to die.

but i'd say uninstall punkbuster, reinstall and update it. or try force restarting your modem and router and see if that helps.

i use iron sight on all my weapons including the LMG's.. way more accurate. the saw is easy to snipe with though you use way more ammo, XM8 LMG is insanely easy to snipe with using iron sights, MG36 comes with the red dot sight as the iron sight which is way better then the add-on red dot and insanely better then the 4x scope. the M60 really isn't that great of an LMG. i prefer the XM8 and mg36 over the m60 any day, especially after the last patch.

as long as you aren't using a VSS i honestly don't care what weapon people use.. so effing sick of watching people use the VSS as a machine gun. worst noob gun ever!
 
So I have been playing medic every round now with red dot sight mag ammo and a pistol, been going pretty well so far got 1/4 a level today almost half way to 47. I miss the 40mm shotgun but with the lmg they do pretty well in close quarter combat alot better then the assault rifles. have the large amount of rounds pre mag is almost like cheating and the pistol as back up is pretty good. most the time I run around with dart but not this time. I can see how people can rank up fast with medic they get lots of points,

I hear you on the VSS infact most sniper rifles are for player that suck. I started out with a sniper rifle and moved to engineer too assualt.

I will say when I start to get alot closer to 50 im going to switch back to assualt and maybe the last few 1000 points switch back too good old faithfull sv98 with 4xoptics it was the first platinum I got seems fair to get 50 with it.

Oh man ran into a hacker today over on strengh and honor server, what a joke I recorded it just for the sake of things took a few rounds for a admin to get on and do something about it, thats the fourth this week oh well can't let them wreck my day sad thing is his team still lost twice when he was hacking
 
most hackers lose.. theres 2 that always come on the server i play on but they suck so bad even when they are hacking we just let them stay on the server. anytime they are on my team i switch teams because they never help their team win.
 
what servers do you mainly play on? I float around on a few most the time I play hardcore rush, Strengh & Honor, Lawlz bawls which is a hardcore mix and for good laugh server called thze 500 ticket oasis also been trying out this Bring dallas with live admin so far its been pretty good.

I don't really think the VSS is any worse than the LMGs or Abakan. If anything the high rate of fire and low magazine size of the VSS would make it the least cheap out of those three.

It how they use the VSS its more noob then the GOL. and the Abakan is not that noob anymore close range got screwed over so when you get right up too them they lose most fire fight plus the lower rate of fire to say and f2000 at that range they are dead inless they have close to hacking skills with head shot
 
the 200rounds in the M249 almost makes a medic invincible. I've gone countless rounds as a medic with huge kill streaks just b/c you never have to reload and you can snipe long distance guys with a couple bursts from it as well.

the irons sights on an M249 is just ridiculously good.
