As defenders on the first island, the little water pathway between the broken bridge can be walked on and the PT boats actually ground themselves a little bit there when passing through so I'd imagine that a few mines tossed down there will mess up some jet skier's day.
 
I find it much more entertaining to gustav them as they fly by.

Even if you miss and hit the ground underneath them (or the water) it seems to kill them.

Or I'm just not missing, still very entertaining... Gustav kills both boats in one hit.
 
I changed my dx version to 9 and now I have a lot of terrain artifacting. Is there a setting a can change to alleviate this ailment?

They've got the fun balance right in hardcore mode. As for realism, this game ain't even close. I can go on and on about what's not realistic about this game. However I don't want to type all night and frankly, it isn't even all that important. I'll just leave it at this: The developers have never been around, near, or probably even seen any of the vehicles or firearms in person. If they knew anything about the subject matter the guns would look better and act more like they should. As it stands now the guns and vehicles do not behave right. With that said the game is still incredibly fun to play and I've enjoyed it quite a bit thus far.
 
It's very arcade-y, but not as arcade-y as something like MW2. I stay away from HC simply because it's too twitch-based for me.

I'll never forget my first kill with the repair tool. Some dude from the other team was using a UAV terminal in our base (last base for attackers in Isla Innocentes, 2nd-to-last base for defenders). Funnily enough someone from my team spotted him before I even got near him but apparently left him alive.

probably just related to DX9 BC2 rendering

there are several other rendering issues with DX9 in BC2

I hit a sniper on Arica Harbor with one that would have been a 150-200 point marksman headshot if I had a sniper-rifle. It was only a few black pixels on my screen. (I was attacking, he was on the hill in the starting stage).

Twas quite funny.

Dude, you got 9 gold stars with the m60 and 5 gold stars with the 40mm and you are complaining about someone else using the carl gustav? Over half your non-sniper kills come from those 2 things alone.

Yea, to counter the fuckheads using the 3 noob weapons you just mentioned.

I spend most of my time sniping, but sometimes it just doesn't cut it against a barrage of tubes, gustavs, and m60's. Only way to get back at them is to stoop to their level.
 
got 3 repair tool kills and 5 defib kills yesterday, had to die more than 50 times to get them :D but I was laughing to tears all the time, will never do it again though.

took 3 heli's with the CG, not hard as I thought. I suppose that M136 AT4 rocket launcher is the one for heli's but it doesn’t lock and even when I tried to keep the box on the heli I didn’t get a hit :(

I don’t think all this noob tube hate is fair. yes I have 1500+ kills on it, but those are like 20% of my total Assault kills, I can hit a speeding bike or kill someone from a very far distance or do double or triple kills in ways I myself never thought I would ever reach, what should I do? use the smoke launcher and spam some smoke around and watch those snipers while they are getting their easy kills and mortars and high k/d rate or a medic who can have much more points than me though he didn’t reach half my kills, yesterday I was reviving my team while trying to get those defib kills I was talking about and was surprised that I was ranked the third (32 player server) though I had two kills (defib shots) and like 30 deaths!

I don’t play recon, I don’t knife or CG, I don’t like driving or piloting anything, I always try to arm or disarm or cover who’s doing it even in bad situations where others stay far and try to get personal kills, I pay attention to the ammo requests or the minimap when I ride a bike or a jetski for anyone trying to get with me, at the beginning of arica harbor and since Assault’s can’t do much their you’ll see me climbing mountings and towers to throw an ammo box for snipers or repairing someones tank even when he keeps driving away in the front leaving me uncovered, not even once someone asked to even teams and I didn’t switch and go with the loosing team, when someone asks for ammo in the chat I say “where are you”, etc etc. I’ve played CS:S for thousands of hours for years and I still suck at it anyone who knew about it 6 months ago can have better score than me but I still enjoy every minute when I play it. I’m not competitive at all and just try to have fun without annoying anyone. whats wrong if I was good with the GL and used it more often?!

See this is the problem, people relentlessly using M60/Tube/CG, good players are driven insane by this rubbish, then snap and use them in retaliation, which just perpetuates the problem.

I think it's safe to say that the problem will not resolve itself until EA DICE patch the game, simply put people are going to use the best weapons for easier kills, refusing to use them because they're cheap or whatever is just not helping your cause any.

Just blast the crap out of people with nothing but the Tube and CG and keep mowing people down with the M60 and eventually it will get patched to fix these problems.

And how can you know that the person you are calling out isn't just doing the same?

People complain about 5 things in this game: too many snipers, noob tube, cg, m1911 and the m60. You do four out of five. If it's in retaliation or not is irrelevant.
 
you guys are playing for the wrong reason. if some tactics you use are not working, then do something else. its just a game. people do whatever is easiest. no skill against superior skill? then use the no skill weapons. and really it does take skill to use the 40mm anyway.
 
well I already the next patch should nerf the explosion effect of the GL, make it like 75% of the current one. other than that I don't see a big problem with the CG or the M60.

I don’t even have a big problem with the GL, I don’t know maybe I’m good at avoiding this stuff but I know I’m annoying a lot of people when I play, this 20% tube kills is starting to get 35-50 now :D

I didn't make any complaints about the M1911 or snipers, so that part of your argument is irrelevant.

And when someone is standing around an ammo box launching tube after tube, they're not "just doing the same".
 
if the GL is still an instant kill (and I don't see how it could NOT be) then people will continue to gripe and complain. If they nerf it that bad to where it is not, wow, that would totally suck, That and there is a long list of weapons that could just as easily be similarly nerfed.

What i'll say is that both me and my brother are pretty good players and we both have the same view on this...

There's "fair fights" and there is just being "lamed", seeing each other and having a shootout is a fair fight, getting bloshed in the face with a single hit weapon isn't particuarly fair, even as a good player there's nothing you can do to retaliate, other than use them same weapons and just beat the enemy into a pulp.

As a good player you're much more aware of this, the reason is that in "fair fights"you tend to win most of the time, so the only time you die is to cheezy CG shots or 40mm nades.

In my mind it's a lot like TF2 with the crit system, a lot of average players like it because every once in a while they spit out a 3x damage rocket and it pans everyone in a large area giving them some easy kills, and that's worth the trade off of getting hit by crits once in a while. But for good players who work on staying alive longer it's irritating because you get good at fighting the average player and staying alive for long periods but when someone crits you, you can't predict it and in a lot of cases there's nothing you can do agaist it. So after a while of playing you realise that you die way more frequently to crits than anything else, I always wondered why I died to crits so "frequently" in TF2 but hardly ever crit myself and it's because in a lot of cases that's what it finally takes to kill me, someone has to score 3x damage out of the blue.

Compare that to BC2 with the tube and CG and it's a similar scenario, good players are the ones more likely to diversify with their weapons but if nothing can fight the CG because it just bloshes you in one hit then you're just going to use this weapon back.

The 40mm and CG take way less skill to use, I know because personally it's much easier for me to kill with these 2 weapons than any other weapon in the game, and that's nothing to do with lack of skill with other weapons, I can use almost any weapon and maintain well above a 1:1 K/D ratio but with the CG I can clean up really easily, it's stupid really.

Oh yeah, I've dropped pilots and gunners from the sky with the M60. Lovely feeling seeing the gunners fall out. Pilots can be shot through the glass, head on.

Try firing LMG bullets through a chopper or hinds glass and it goes right though. I did it last night when a pilot was waiting on a helipad for teammates to join him. Shot him directly through the glass. Sidearms I'm not sure about, may not penetrate

Any good players should know to deal with CG, 40MM and M60 spammers without having to use said weapons in retailiation. Most 40MM & CG players are so one dimensional it's easy to combat them, simply flank and use the trusty old blade. :p

exactly.. m60 spammers are the best though.. fun as hell pissing them off after you own them with some weak ass gun..

No arguments there, but I was mainly talking about the helicopters. I'm sure BF3 will be a different deal, I suppose they've had to make it more accessible for people on other platforms and such. Be good to see some of the things they got right in previous games make a return.

I can't wait until they fix the sights in HC. It's still possible to use it by guessing, but I'd rather take the MG36 with the built-in sights than putting a dot on any of the others. I like having the extra medic perks and such.

Fair point in theory, but there seem to be quite a few times I join a server and the entirety of both teams are using M60s, 40mms and CGs to counter each other and you just end up getting bum-fucked in a hail of bullets the second anyone sees you. There are times when you have to go the dirty route just to get anywhere, with 20+ people all holding the button down together.

I started playing this weekend after a lot of personal problems and not having any time.
Well I don't see the arguement here. I was a col in AA so I know a little about how to shoot and not get shot and its not arcade like BF2 or BC2.
When I am between 2 buildings with a little walk way and empty a clip into a player running at me and he runs the entire distance and knifes me that is BS.
BAD game design and again the typical Dice hit box. or lack of

The sniping is easier than it was in BF2, but with the M24 I have had tons of hits that were not kills.
Only head shots seem to produce kills most times. I have shot knifers running right at me and hit them in the chest and killed them so range does effect this.
Most snipers are carrying Barretts but I do not know at what level they are given.
I switched to assault and the 40mm and my score went thru the roof.
One funny thing some of the players shouting got their ranks this way and then changed to something else....SO THEY TALK DOWN TO THOSE THAT DID THE EXACT SAME THING THEY DID

It was ok when I did it but now that I am leet its not ok any more

anyone trying to do the bronze stars with all weapons? Its kinda neat I have been using guns I dont nomally use.

like the f2000. it fires waaaay to fast and hits for nothing. CQB is pretty solid as you just drop people but still not great.

the aug which i had never used prior is pretty awesome. I might like it better then the 416. it hits really hard.

the sv 98 is crap, it cant even 1 shot on hardcore, I have to use mag ammo. also the scope is crappy.

Your mistake is playing on "normal" servers. Search for "hard" or "HC" servers when you're setting your filter. Just about everything you're bitching about will be taken care of if you do that.
 
Got the Gol Sniper unlocked, it's my new best friend. Now I need to get back to assault and get red dot and AUG.

A lot of these issues are why I play on hardcore servers alone. Try it. Excluding the 1911 and the M60 almost every gun in BFBC2 feels useless until you play hardcore.
 
I started out on hardcore servers to get a feel for the guns with no crosshairs. I enjoyed it, but I definitely prefer normal servers now. Once you unlock accurate weapons, HC is a twitch fest. That can be fun, but shooting people in the toe and killing them can also be silly at times.

Also, why is it always the people who spam magnum ammo on the M60 complain about the tube? Complainers just make me want to 40mm them in the eye. Every class has it's cheap weapon or tactic, learn to deal with it.
