Supposedly there is going to be a deal this weekend at Wal-Mart on a Xbox 360 Arcade system that includes a $100 gift certificate. There will also be a $148 Blu-ray player on sale as well. If true, these are certainly some great deals.

A retail tipster sends word that Walmart will be selling an Xbox 360 Arcade with a $100 gift card for $199 this Saturday. The retailer will also be selling a Sony BluRay player for $148.

I wonder if this is part of their smartening up from last year's Black Friday incident - start crazy sales early and spread out the time over periods of days instead of making it just one day where people are stampeding and killing other people.

Tempting, but not worth dieing over. Walmart is a crazy place, the holiday hot deals just add to it.

I predict a new flood o' Arcade units over at da fleaBay soonly.

I've been thinking of getting a console. Any reason to get a built in HD over the arcade?

I was holding off on getting this for a while yet but for that price you can't beat that.

Well well well, if this is the case I'm glad I have waited to buy a new 360. I was going to buy a new one this weekend anyway, and if this is true it works out quite nicely.

It's times like this that I wish I could break my ethical code about not supporting Walmart.

Oh well, I'll just wait to pick one up later.

guess il be the first to ask, does wallyworld have an extended waranty, and do these things still have a 50% dudrate?

Dammit that's tempting. How do I rationalize having a PS3, HTPC and then adding a Xbox?

So I can finally get 2 more 360's to do the 3 screen Forza racing?

Sooo tempting...

-The 360 is the perfect Media Center Extender for your HTPC. I just started getting into it and watching/recording TV over my 360. Works very well :).

- XBL beats the crap out of PSN.

- Better exclusives IMO (with the exception to Uncharted 1&2, best games EVAR!)

I have all consoles, an i7/GTX280 gaming rig, and a HTPC. I use my 360 the most out of them all, I'd say.

Your name fits you nicely.

Yeah, they do.

bah, an extended warranty is a waste of money. I believe MS gives a 3 year with new consoles :) odds dictate that it's bound to fail before that runs out

shit, I am going to pick up two this weekend (if this deal is correct) and put them in the closet for X-Mas presents for the relatives / extended family.

I tried that out this past weekend. My friend, my bro, and I got all of our crap together. It was pretty sweet! :)

Don't make this harder on me man. All this Eyefinity coverage lately has made me itching to try out multi-screen stuff, and this seems like the cheapo-from-the-sofa route.

Hell I might even have to ghetto it out and use my matching PC monitors (mine and the fiance's) on the sides of my big screen instead of buying a new monitor.

If I do it.. I'll take a pic. :)

any one know if you can buy it now and get a price protection and get the gift card on sat? or if i can buy it now dont open it wait for the sale then return it re buy it and get the gift card?

Why don't you just wait for the sale then buy one?

Ebay has 120gb HD's for the xbox for 50-70$. Not bad.

I wonder if this deal will really be offered nationally. I'll check out wlamart saturday morning and ask about the arcade+100$ giftcard for 200$.

Yeah, they do.

I suppose you're a flouzie douzie slut by the sound of your name too huh?

Walmart is a shitty company, but they know how to herd their sheep to reap in the profits.

Yeah they're real bastards, selling inexpensive stuff to people with low incomes. Clearly they're forcing their will on these hapless souls, who have no capacity to make a choice for themselves, and an endless supply of money they'd eagerly spend at smaller businesses if only Wal Mart didn't force them at gunpoint onto the clearance aisle.

There not the only ones doing it, PS3 is the same way, it costs $100 to get the 120g over the 60, Ipods are even worse, charging $100 to go from the 32gig Ipod Touch to the 64gig. At least with the 360 your getting 4000% increase in storage space for that $100

You've obviously done little academic research on the economics of a company like Walmart.

Your logic is failed if you think that cheap prices + people on low incomes = win for people on low income, you're completely mistaken.

Sure I don't have much income myself right now due to health, and would love to save money. However I know that shopping at Walmart just because they are cheaper isn't the ethical thing to do, IMO. I may save money, but by voting with my wallet, I am saying that it is OK to pay workers less than fare wages, give no benefits and have states like California foot the bill for state-assisted health insurance to Walmart employees. It's so nice that Walmart can pull in all sorts of profits for themselves by importing goods made at crap wages and sell those goods for deflate prices all while creating the environment they have for their workers.

I know that I'm not going to win every argument about capitalism and Walmart, but I consider myself very well versed in the economic conditions they bring.

If you want to shop there, that's your choice and I'm not going to belittle you. On the same hand if I don't want to shop there, there's no need for you to attack me for my own ethics.

Hmmm this is very tempting considering my launch console just bit the dust the other weekend. I wonder if it is actually going to happen though, and if so, at what time on Saturday?

I'm in the same boat (though my 360 died about a month ago). If anyone gets anymore info on this please keep the people on [H] updated. If not, I'm probably just going to go to my local Wal-Mart at the stroke of midnight and ask about it.
