Everyone under 18 post your setup

It's an Everglide dktBoard. Excellent backlighting. The top half is made of aluminum too, and it's smaller than most other keyboards so it's awesome for LAN parties. Great key-action too, somewhere between the old clicky style boards and the new slim-key.

It's exactly what I am looking for. I have a Rosewill RK600 that's small and slim, great for gaming. But that is backlit and aluminum, really cool.

EDIT: No wonder why I like it. It's practically a Razer product.

That's actually an original 1989 Gameboy. Big difference if you make music with them like I do. The old ones have fat bass! ;P

lol i diffident even remember a yellow one.

jeez, I wish I had pics of my computer when I was 11, You all need to see the watercooling system I had on it, most of it was made of pipe fittings, one time the lady at the hardware store asked me if I was making a bong [this was when I had hippy hair]

Well here mine is:

computer isnt 100% rigged but its only 2 parts away

and most of that i was lucky and got for free/birthday/christmas

This thread makes me sick. I still run my sig and I'm 22 turn 23 in november. But then again I spent my money when I was younger on my car insurance and gas because my parents didn't feed me money at all and I held down 2 jobs at one point.

^GJ, now you can leave these guys alone and bring your sob story elsewhere.

Yea... that's what you should be telling all the kids who grew up pampered and fucked themselves over in the real world because they had no sense of saving/earning money.

AHAHAHAHA!!!! Most of us here wish our parents would pay for our computer crap!

I expect from my parents a roof over my head, and food, nothing else.
I'm also sick of the kids that think they are "entitled" to an ipod, $400 pants/ random clothing, and other useless crap. The ones who hate their parents too, they devote about a fifth of their lives to raise you, they deserve something in return...

I just got that same case, it's here -> http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1341789
You can put the HDD in the 5.25 bay crossways in the front under the 3.5 bay.

These are not too up to date, but I can't find any AA's for the camera
The basement of my house sat empty for 5 years, so I "claimed" it...

I agree. I'm not afraid to say I love my parents, and I tell them that every chance I get, even if it isn't "cool". Whatever happened to people living within their means?

Yeah, I know. It wouldn't fit because the PATA cable was super stiff. So I just threw it up top and added a side 80mm intake to counter the 80mm exhaust. :)

Yay! Someone who isn't the standard "trendy asshole" of today :D
I'm the same way, and if my friends think I'm weird for it, I just tell them that they don't need to be my friend...

I just put a SATA drive down there, but I just recently took out the CD drive, and put it into a external enclosure I cobbled together from 3 of the oldest external cd drives I ever saw, a 2x a 4x and a 8x... Now I have a full bay empty, now I'm trying to figure out what to do with it, I'm thinking watercooling gear, a small reservoir and a small pump should fit, then a black ice "pro" single 120mm radiator where the hard drive mounts on the side [over by the CPU] with the fan mounting brackets cut off to make it fit, a 35W AMD should be able to run off that passively...

Same here. Weird thing is, most of my friends actually hate their parents. Though, I wasn't fond of mine until they got divorced (Sounds bad but, it was the greatest thing that ever happened in the long run).

Well, my parents divorced when I was 2, so I don't remember much of them together, but all I do remember was them arguing, then when my dad moved 11 miles away, so I still saw him on weekends, he's the one who got me into computers, cars, machining, and other mechanical stuff... My parents are awesome! Now they get along fine... Also, my brother moved to my dad's house, so now I only see him on weekends, so, BWAHAHA 2 christmasses, and stuff....

I can say at least for myself, that I rarely spend money on less productive things (in my opinion) such as expensive clothing or any other vanity-wear like iPods. I probably shop for clothes every 2-3 months, and when I do, it's at Ross mostly, except for shirts and shoes(which I shop for even less frequently). To save my parents money, I also turned down their offer to to throw me a graduation party in July.

I also tutored freshman Algebra at my High School, but after entering college, it's hard to get a job that fits my bizarre schedule (8am - 2-5pm).

I work hard in school, something my parents hold in the highest regard, and have a full scholarship. Extra scholarship money also helped buy my school related hardware =)

Like many people here, I love my parents, and so do all of my friends, and I would never take advantage of their kindness.

With all that said, I gotta say, some of you guys have some NICE gear here. Hope to post my own soon!

I have two jobs: I work at Geek Squad @ $11 an hour and I program for a company called Quality System Integration @ $14 an hour.

Hey David, what kind of programming do you do? Judging form that company's website, I assume something along the lines of systems/maintenance programming?

I'm sorry but I don't see how an Ipod is deemed vanity wear, that's a massive over-generalization. I lamented the Ipod fad for a long time but eventually I got tired of carrying the brick that is the Zen Vision and now I use my Ipod everyday. I bought my 5g 30gb used for $85 and it was the best portable audio purchase I've made.

They didnt even have anything like this when I was 15, back in the good old pentium days.

pentium? i was busting a 486 pc back then made by viglin LOL:)

seriously you guys must have some amazing job or rich parents!

back in my days the most a 15 year could earn was around 300-£400 a month! that alone is enough to JUST buy a new gpu.

one day when i have children i would probably spoil them too.

i highly doubt your under 18 years old. the kind of gears u have there is crazy. that camera with that lens alone costs more then people's whole salary on a 30+hour a week job for us grown ups

^^
That doesn't hold? Some people make a significant amount of money in one week, that or he's hit it big?

My university apartment setup is below. Pic quality ain't the best here since it's a cell, poor wiring, and 5.1 sound is a waste lol. But that's ok for me.

I doubt some of you are really 18 now with some the shit you have. At 18 all I had was some crappy compaq desktop I bought when I worked at CC.

geez, next thing you know there is gonna be a "post your birth certificate to make sure you are 18" thread...

Guys, its not a big deal. Some people have a great job at 16-17-18. Some 16-17-18 year olds actually work hard and want to work hard.

what kind of jobs can a 16-18 year old have? in a matter of speaking, what large company would employ such kdis to work for them unless some of these kids are "special"

last summer, i was 16. I was working making $7.21 per hour. It was actually facilities at my church, but it was great so i worked a lot. I was "part time" but i had a couple 60+ hour weeks. in 3-4 months i pulled in ~4grand. got my PC, stereo, camera, monitor(s) mp3 player. I had only jsut turned 16, so no car yet.

But how is that related to our setups? It didn't specify whether or not it had to be purchased by us or family members.

Sure, I don't work. All I do is go to school, do well and be grateful for what my parents have given me.

I leech off of them now but later on I'm more than willing to make sure I'll make it up to them (in a way, can't really repay parents' love and care enough). I dislike those jerks who "hate" their parents or "my life sucks".
I had a female friend who called her mother a "prositute" with a "female doggy" attitude for not purchasing her a pair of $750 fashionable glasses (replace the words in quotations in this sentence with more suitable words that fit the sentence).

I do believe some people in this thread work and make enough money by utilising their money managing skills rather than splurge it on other stuff. Others are more fortunate than others by growing up in a "better" family (better is a loose word here, it's all subjective).

you should say a richer family not better family ;)

there is nothing wrong with asking your parents to buy u your gear but i think some grown ups cannot believe such a 16-17 year old could afford all these dual monitors, DSLR cams with $1-2k lenses attached to them, ipods etc all by themselves.

i have a 14 year old bro who has a better pc then me(i built it for him), a core 2 one along with a 360. he also sports a more up to date phone then me, two MP3 players and a shit load of clothes and shoes as well.

He even has one of those "netbook" laptops too! all from my parents plus the SHIT load of money he recieves during xmas time and on his bday!

he hasnt worked a single hour of his life so far yet he has much more techy stuff then me lol even though i have a pretty decent full time job in a good company.

moral of the story is i and many here fail to believe that you "worked" that hard getting your gear. maybe you have but raising 4k 2-3months of proper work? dont u guys go to school? over here in the uk the max holiday kids have is 6 weeks. even if you work the whole summer vacation of the 6 weeks you can just about earn around £1000 here.

^^
lol, similar situation to my sister, although she's younger than me. She gets all my hand-me down tech stuff. But she could care less about technology.

With regards to the work, the person said he worked part-time for 3/4 months with a couple of weeks with 60+ hours. We get about 8-12 weeks off over here in North America.
So assume he makes $8 an hour.
60hours x $8 x 2 weeks = $960. Now, that was only 2 weeks with 60 hours. He's already 1/4 of the way there. I'm sure he can easily rake in the rest with the time remaining.

Ya....if you're referring to me, I did state I don't work but the question then arises, deserves it or not? That indeed is questionable but rewards for doing well in school = motivation for continuously doing well.

well a 3/4 months of work is plenty but over here in the uk its not possible to have that sort of luxury unless u drop out of school here. like i said the max holiday we get here is 6 weeks.

i doubt any kids can afford dual monitors/SLI rigs in my country unless they rob people(alot do in my country), sell drugs or have rich parents/family.

My bro is very spoilt though. i see him buy a new pair of trainers nearly once a week! When i was growing up my parents never spoilt me that bad.matter of fact i could only play video games in school holidays. not even weekend i was allowed!

Look at me now though, i never smoked weed, do drugs, i stayed in education right till uni and now im married and in a good job ;)

Some of you kids are very lucky though and i envy you :)

Seriously guys, I'm 19 (as of yesterday) I've worked at 4 places now, my current job being in IT as desktop support. I make $10/hr and 400 bucks every 2 weeks, plus i'm a college freshman.
It's not hard to make money in this world. Just because your job isn't as good as the people that work their asses off as kids, doesn't give you the right to bitch at them for doing work.

BTW Specs in sig, I paid for the whole thing myself.

I had sli for a while [it was a couple cheapo 8500's] a year or so ago...

When I was 11 [and had just joined this forum] I had saved up enough to get a A64-3000+, a MSI NEO4 -F [the cheapo model], and a 6600LE, then I really got into watercooling, I had everything [CPU, GPU, NB] watercooled with 1/2" tubing, and homemade blocks before I was 12. Then I got into phase change a bit later [3 months] and built my first single stage a few months later, and promptly killed my NEO4 -F , then started building an autocascade, but that sits half-done to this day....

Sorry, I didn't mean any offense by that. It's just that most of the people I know pay for stuff they don't need (like iPhones/iPods) and barely ever put them to use, storing only handful of songs on them.

Anyways, I used to own an iPod as well, and never really used it. Now, I only have a small Sansa Clip that doesn't get really used either.

For the guys who are saying there are no way that us "Kids" can be making enough money for stuff like this, you gotta think about the people who get hooked up with parents friends for jobs or things like that. I got lucky enough to hit a local computer store 2 days after they opened this week and got a job there. Lucky me :D

Dev1ant,

Where are you located? GTA?

What university do you go to?

Breakfast Television FTW!

And, btw, the minimum wage is going up to $10.10 in Ontario, Canada this upcoming year... Talk about 450$ a week for most jobs!

Are you fooking serious? I just got a job at 10.50! That shit aint fair. :(

I think its hilarious how so many people on here are saying it's not possible for kids to have all this stuff on their own. Under 16 obviously parents bought it for them unless they had special circumstances (family job or etc). Living at home with zero expenses and hunting for good deals its extremely easy for a 17 year old to piece together an SLI rig with dual displays even just working 20 hours a week at minimum wage during the school year. I would LOVE to see what you guys think about the <21 crowd on some of the car forums who claim they pay for their 20k+ car AND insurance/gas while going to college without any help from their parents.

Nice! I tried phase back when I was 14 and my parents put an end to that pretty quick. I think the killer was when they asked what R290 was and I said propane :D

ya that makes me sick.

ahahah at the propane part! :p

Same here, though the r290 can't get into a high enough concentration to start burning from a leak, they didn't listen, so I used some R-12 I had laying around... :p

I take back my previous statements as I thought that it was nay impossible to get a job to pay for that much stuff.

My friend got a job working at Best Buy as a Sale Associate and he makes $600 every month, and I got a job at Jewel making $400 a month.

Its possible to get $4000 in 3 or so months. Before I turned 18 I was making $9.50 an hour at a party store since I had worked there since I was 16. I worked 35 hours a week. Now I am in a freshman in college taking 16 credits, at $15.00 an hour full time, working for a crisis center for mentally challenged kids. It's not impossible just save up money:D.

At my current rate right now, I could never save up $4000 before even starting my career. But then again I don't want/can't afford a $4000 computer. I actually build wish (use this term strongly) lists in newegg. Right now I a system set up that will set me back $700-$800 depending on my choice of case. And the thing is pretty damned decent. 4850, e8400, Lian Li, corsair 520W, and a p45 mobo. I have a hard drive, DVD, OS, and peripherals.
