$285 EVGA 9800 GX2 @ Newegg.com

this will beat a 280 at 19x12. for a lot cheaper. i had 2 of these several months ago and for what i paid for quad sli then you could run octo sli now. this is an insanely powerful card at an insanely low price. also has hdmi out which i dont think the 280 has. between this price for a 4 or 5 month old card and the price drops on the 280, can you imagine the mark-ups on these cards? i would have to guess like 3 or 400%. and when they drop the stores still gouge the prices. unbelievable.

I owned a 9800GX2, TF2 and a multitude of games didn't support Sli. Moreover I used to suffer from micro-stuttering in Crysis. Consequently I went ahead and stepped up to an Evga 280GTX, just wanted to add my 2 cents so that the people know about the true picture before buying this card.

Obviously its worse than the GTX 280 even though it gets more "FPS" when using a time demo. That doesn't mean this isn't a good deal.

yes this is pretty much sli in one card, so if you get sli headaches i wouldn't get this.

I just was at newegg's site..and yup when I saw this..I was like..whooooa..that is a darn low price

A couple of weeks back this would have cost you your first born

Great price if your in the market..!

I completely disagree, I've owned a GX2 and now have three GTX 280's. Sure the GX2 may show more FPS, but nothing beats a powerful monolithic card. SLI is up to the drivers and the game developers to impliment it correctly, so support often lags and you're limited to the power of one GPU.

Sure this is a good price for a GX2, but I'd take a 280 over it any day.

pc299..you got alll da money :D (I've owned a GX2 and now have three GTX 280's)

With the 280 out now and everything... is there any single card yet that can actually run Crysis (at around 1280x1024) at full settings? i'm still running my 8800GTX.

inventory dump. with the 4870, two 8800GT, and the GTX260 at the current price point they are going to have to do better then this. it is a fast card but with issues. they are going to have to do the same with the 3870X2 as well.

looks like you are pretty much locked into saying that now. even with the price drops you are still paying like $200 more for a 280.

I paid an average of $360 each for my 280's, and have totally recouped the cost selling off my 'older' GPUs, so not hardly.

That's what I thought. How does the rest of my rig stack up, particularly my CPU and PSU? Are 2 gigs of RAM enough?

You would need to get your cpu to about 3.6 - 4ghz to give it good enough juice to really shine, i would get a new cpu, E8500/E8400 and overclock it to 4ghz easily, this card sometimes even beats the GTX 280.

Interesting.I should still see a nice boost, correct? I'm currently at 2.7 GHz.

fuck, I paid 375 for mine just three weeks ago, oh well with the ms cashback it comes around to that price area, still wish it woulda come down earlier.

I actually just got my comp with this card up and running a few days ago and only started to test it out in games, in Age of Conan at full details @ 1680x1050 I get a nice smooth frame rate generally in the 40-60'ish range out in the open area's.

One of the best bang for the bucks deal at the moment.
The cheapest GTX 280 is $115 more expensive!

8 of these and 2 quads, now that would make for some serious folding power ;). if i had 4k to blow i'd definitely do it :)

not to mention the industrial cooling it would require. :D
LOL i'd be more worried about the electric bill ;). well i get free electric but the rental office would wonder why i am sucking so much juice :D
