I saw this really funky looking game where you can drive around wild 3d tracks doing all kinds of crazy jumps, loops etc... Forgot what the game is called, that inspired me to make this list.

Everybody: contribute the name/link/mini-review/screenshot, whatever of any cool game that's not on a top 10 list someplace like gamespot or such.

List any great (or good, if you really like it) game of the past couple years that might have slipped past most of us without being noticed.

I'm kind of tired of the mega-hyped games that usually seem to dissapoint (me, anyway).

You're either talking about GripShift or TrackMania

Frequency , fun game and was the game that started the guitar hero craze , but widely unpopular was sort of a cult classic.

Do you really think he's going to go through the headache of finding a bunch of 15 year old games to play them on his PC? Just because they predate a time when personal computers were mainstream doesn't make the games great.

Quake Wars? That's definitely mainstream.

Rise of the Triad though.. hehe

I did, and I still play some of them. Hell, I'm going to pick up a NES one of these days, just for Super Mario 3 goodness. I love that game. I already got a SNES and Secret of Mana (but haven't gotten Chronotrigger yet.)

Myth is a game worth finding and playing. (Look for Myth: The Total Codex).

While you're definitely entitled to your opinion, I would argue that Deus Ex, the Ultima series and the Fallout series are among the best games to come out for the PC, despite their age.

Just because a game doesn't look like Crysis doesn't make it a bad game.

Also, take a look at Extreme-G for the N64. That game was tons of fun for some reason.

Where do you buy those old skool consoles?? I'd like to know

I've gotta agree with you. I replayed Deus Ex, System Shock 2 and Fallout 1 & 2 over the summer. I had so much more fun with them than BioShock. I'll choose a compelling storyline + solid gameplay + dated graphics over the latest and greatest eye candy every time.

Where does that leave the entire GPU industry then? :D I have both system shocks and deus ex, and I agree too, theyre great. Hopefully the new deus ex 3 wont be as shitty as invisible war was. Wonder why there isnt another system shock? (bioshock doesnt count)

Conkers bad Fur Day for the N64 is a laugh riot, you should get it if you can find it, might have to look on ebay., or do like I did and download an emulator.

Only thing I remember about ROTT was how long it took to uhh.. "obtain" via 2400 baud modem to a BBS :p

ROTT was amazing!!!! It had great fun weapons that modern games lack, and it had a sense of humor. Loved that game. Ludricous gibs! :D

Dont know if anyone remembers this game, But PO'ed for some stupid reason was fun for a bit.

I'd have to say Parasite Eve 1+2, Fatal Frame 2, Megaman legends.

Unicycles on the snes

raiden project.

it's called uniracers :p one of my favorite games, too bad i traded it in along with secret of mana/evermore, final fantasy mystic quest, starfox, and a load of other classics back in the day.

I. P. Freely, dog mode, shrooms mode, drunk missiles, Excalibat...what's not to love?

Aquaria sounds great for an indie modern 2D game. It takes place under water.

official site: http://www.bit-blot.com/aquaria/
developer: http://www.bit-blot.com/
release date: spring 2007

There's a demo that you can try and people seem to really enjoy it.

Also, my older favorite little game, Crimsonland. I was addicted to this for a long time. Lots of weapons and perks to keep people happy. It's a top-down shooter where you unlock weapons and perks then play Survival and try to last as long as possible and get high scores.

I was excited to see 30 responses, I guess only some are good posts w/games in 'em.

"trouble"? No trouble. I was just gonna install MAME tonight on my PC, I've usually had MAME installed on all my PCs for quite a few years now, this one just had Windows XP Pro installed recently to replace XP 64 so I got to re-install lots of things.

Well, I have 2 DVDs with ALL SNES games ever released from Japan, US, and Europe and it's easy to download a free SNES emulator (I think that's legal?). I'm not really sure what the legal status of SNES ROM files is, kind of a grey area and distribution of them is probably something that is not allowed for discussion on the [H] forums.

TrackMania, that's it, I have to see if there's a demo to download, it looks wild, watched crazy videos of it on YouTube.

Herre's another game for the list: FreeCiv

You got alot more than just SNES on 2 DVD's.
Trust me. I know.

I think Trackmania Nations is one that's completely free over the internet (then again, aren't all games? Yarrr!). Anyway I played it maybe 1-2 years ago and it had something like 40+ maps plus a track editor, a car paint editor, etc. and it's freeware and playable online. (you all race at the same time, but you can go through other players and then get ranked based on your time)

The tracks are crazy in that game and it's pretty fun to try to improve your time by taking shortcuts, jumping over things, etc.

RotT was sweet though I only had the demo which was a full episode like doom. I played it all the time.

ROTT was awesome, the first deathmatch (modem) game I got my hands on
Lotsa fun killin off the other guy with that single-hit kill weapon (The Dark Staff)
I'd say try Shadow Warrior, but single player mode ain't that fun after the hillarious one-liners wear off. Once again, deathmatch is where it at.

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher's Bay. I remember playing that game and thinking," Where the hell did this game come from?"
