That's not the reporter doing it.good thing the reporter is making him flustered and look like a general idiot
As a virginia tech alumnus I came home early monday to check up on people and watch what was happening. I was absolutely shocked to hear his name as a guest on the news at 3pm when so little was known. He was 100% as insensitive, inaccurate, and inciteful as I anticipated.
Even if it was known or if he merely felt with absolute certainty that video games somehow caused this, it was completely sickening to hear him push his agenda at that point in time, and fox should be ashamed of itself for letting him on. Thompson, like the rest of the world, had no facts on the identity of the shooter, yet he immediately began talking about video games. I lasted 15 seconds before I turned it off.
I'm conservative, and often watch certain programs on fox news, but I'll never watch the channel again. The second I heard his name I knew exactly what he would talk about, so either fox put him on knowing what he would say, or they know less about their guests than I do. It was irresponsible and insensitive for them to put him on tv at that point in time.
For me, this isn't about the validity of the issue at hand, its about the timing and agenda that he pushes. There's no doubt in my mind that he got gleefully excited when he heard about the shootings.
Did the Fox reporter happen to ask Thompson exactly what videogame Whitman sharpened his skills with before sniping 15 people from the UT tower in 1966?

I'm going to get back to my "murder simulator now" and shoot some bad guys and mutants in Stalker since it's obviously based in reality just like Half Life 1&2, Doom 3, FEAR, Oblivion, and all the other ones I've played lately.
Can someone just camp and AWP his ass? Our team needs more points.
As a liberal I've hated FOX news for years. They clearly push the conservative agenda far too hard, I can't stand to even see it while channel surfing. I do realize that MSNBC is the same way with liberal issues though. CNN seems to be the only fairly balanced place to get your news from on the tv these days so I try to stick with that. Never hearing the other side of the argument is no way to make an informed decision.
That aside, I completely agree with you that standing atop a tragic event to push your political agenda is a very egregious position to hold.
Let's kidnap him and force him to play Counterstrike and Quake 4 for a week straight! Would be interesting to know what he would say after that.
inciteful
The grammar police in me just can't let this go, especially this month while I am in the middle of taking a writing and grammar class...
Insightful is a word, and doesn't mean what you were trying to say, indeed it means almost the opposite.
Inciteful is not a word at all.
Jesus christ, that was post 10 on the first page. Don't you have something better to do? If it were the previous post, sure, go ahead, call the SS. Since it was seven years ago, consider PMing him instead to better his understanding of the English language in private.
Actually it is still on the first page for me since I am registered and smart enough to change my own settings.
His post was 5 hours ago, not 7 years ago.
Finally, if he is going to use the name Spaceman Spiff then his writing really should be pretty damn good and corrected when it is not.
To do otherwise is an insult to three of the greatest people/characters of all time; Calvin, Hobbes, and Bill Watterson.
Now could a violent game make you violent?! not if any sensible/sane person understands the real world and fantasy, even people understand violent movies as fantasy, or true storie documentories.
