I'm thinking about going from comcast cable to uverse since its a lot cheaper. I'm concerned about ping since I found a couple threads on the uverse forums with some complaints about high pings in gaming. I'd like to know how your experience has been with uverse and what kind of pings your getting.

Works perfect, servers that I play on for BF3 are 40-50, etc.

thanks. are you in texas? seems like everyone gets good pings there since its in the center and a lot of servers are hosted there.

Its about 15-20ms higher. Example I had U-Verse and to a texas server i was 65 ish where with Cox I get 45ish. In am in CA btw. YMMV but other then that I had zero complaints. I loved the 24/3 connection as I always got my max. Then only other issue I noticed was Youtube buffering issues. It was completely random. Using Goggle's DNS did help but did not fix the issue 100%.

UVerse DSL is interleave (vs. fastpath), which means it adds 15-20ms (or more) to your ping compared to traditional ADSL. My first-hop times on cable and ADSL have always been similar (5-8ms), so I would say you can expect UVerse to add 15-20ms to the pings you're getting on Comcast. Keep in mind that the way your connection is routed to a particular server will vary from ISP to ISP, so your pings on some servers may be lower than with cable; others may be significantly higher.

The UVerse DSL connection should provide more stable pings than cable, though, since it is a dedicated line (vs. shared bandwidth over cable).

we have uverse around here, cable is just as cheap if not cheaper and a better connection too

Remember there are 2 types of UVerse. There is DSL, and there is a hybrid Fiber/Copper Uverse called VDSL. They both use interleaving but with VDSL you can get 24/3 for 65$ a month.

I heard somewhere that you can ask the tech or someone higher up, maybe tier 2. and they can pop a switch on their end to put you on "Fastpath", but there are limitations such as your distance to either the nearest tele box in your neighborhood or maybe the central hub in your town.

i don't remember much because i don't use AT&T anymore :p
now i have 40/5 (no powerboost) from Brighthouse Networks which, in my opinion, has been really great so far! i have no reason to look back.
