I need a 10 bay NAS for plex.. really want something that has some power.. my current NAS just has a celery 2GHZ..

Drives nit necessary..

It can be an all inclusive one like a QNAP or DIY

Can go up to roughly 1k to $1200

Where are you located (for shipping purposes)?
What brand do you currently have, or just DIY?
OS to be solely storage? or a mix like unraid/freenas?
Do you have any network requirements 10gb eth/SFP/IPMI?
Any resource requirements around running VMs/docker containers? (CPU, ram)
Any onboard storage requirements for cache? (m.2, NVME, SATA, SAS?)
Do you require hot swap or are standard drive slots ok (perhaps a mix)?
I may have a mostly complete system that I might be able to part with (has case, mobo, cpu (xeon v3), but missing ram/PSU, that I could put together pretty easily ~ or discount accordingly if you prefer)

Hello.

I am in Overland Park, Kansas
i have an asustor 10 Bay
The NAS would be for storage/Plex abilities. Would like to run a Raid 6
No network requirements
No VM's
Straight SATA 3.5 Drives only
Hot Swap not necessary

hardware or software raid 6 or indifferent?
and to confirm do you want it to run plex too or just a storage target? and will it be used for anything else other than plex/backup storage?

Software Raid 6 preferable. And would love for it to be my plex server and storage unit.

While theres a cost, if you're going DIY I would highly recommend unraid.
If not DIY go for a retail unit that allows expansion expandability without redoing the entire array.

I have a Corsiar 750D with a Supermicro X10SRA-F and a Xeon 2630 v3 and can find at least 32gb of ram.
I'll grab some pictures and pm them to you if interested.

Also recommend unraid and perhaps finding used server gear locally for cheap. Heh.
