vsphere vds high dropped egress packet count

When I view the ports within a VDS port group and start monitoring port state, I'm seeing an alarming count within the 'Dropped - egress packets' field. Ingress also has a count, but not nearly as high.

This on a majority of my active VMs.

When I view the details within the networking view on esxtop, the DRPTX & DRPRX fields are 0.00, with the exception of a few packets here and there.


Currently, there is no complaint about network performance. This is a smallish view environment with approximately 100 desktops running on three HP DL460 g8 blades using virtual connect.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I should look at next, or if I should even worry about this?

did you check the counters on the switch in your bladecenter? and the counters on the switch your bladecenter is connected to? I would just go back through the network topology checking each port and it's setting until you find the culprit.
