has anyone compared ENB SSAO vs Nvidia AO? There is a video on youtube but I can't tell the difference.
Can anyone suggest a bit more realistic combat mod? I'm playing on expert and I hate how the enemies absorb damage but I don't want to lower the difficulty because of principles.
I like being notified in a new post that the OP has been updated. Again, thanks for the hard work dj_2004!
Also, I'm using Realistic Colors, Realistic Nights v3 mod. Any way to get SSAO/SSIL with an AMD 7870 with this mod? I read that it's not compatible with ENB. Care to provide some info on that anyone?
Is unique booze bottles supplementary to SLOD Wine Cellar, or do you prefer it over SLOD?

How is this mod looking? Any conflicts or anything you've experienced?
Thanks for the guide. I just picked up skyrim and looking to add some mods.
I bought the game on steam. How does modding on steam differ than modding on here?
Can I just subscribe to mods or are there any precautions I need to worry about?
Where you download your mods and what installation method is up to you.
IMO, Steam Workshop is one of the worst methods since 1. it auto-updates subscribed mods which is something that is problematic (reason is in the beginning of my Helpful Links, Tweaks, and Guides section), 2. it doesn't allow mods that use esm files or mods that are above a certain size (100MB?), and 3. there are more mods on Nexus than Workshop.
If you're new to TES modding, then I suggest using Nexus Mod Manager and their site for mods and only Workshop for Workshop exclusive mods.
Edit: Mods added today:
LIAT - Lively Inns And Taverns

Better Fast Travel - Carriages and Ships

TES V Savegame Manager

The quest, house, and ENB sections could use more mods so please recommend the ones you enjoy.
Thanks a bunch, for someone new to modding the amount of information is a little overwhelming...
I will follow your advice and not use the workshop. I'll sign up at nexus and go from there. Yeah modding seems kinda difficult and it seemed that the workshop made it simple without making it work well.
btw, is there anything different about modding a steam version from a regular version?
Skyrim is a Steam-only game so there is no regular version unlike past TES games.
If you want simplicity, then Workshop does that well, which is partly why it has its problems. You'll still have to learn to use Nexus (whether NMM, Wrye Bash, or manual installation) for certain mods, assuming you want those mods.
Using NMM is similar to Workshop but you will have to update your mods yourself rather than having them auto-update. So, in the end, you don't seem to be losing much in terms of simplicity.
Key things to keep in mind:
1. Scripts are saved into saved games. This can very easily cause a saved game to go from crash-free fun to a burning CTD disaster that can only be fixed by loading a save before certain mods were added (or re-adding those mods that you removed). Until a save game cleaner comes along, one must be careful of what mods he installs.
2. Always run BOSS after you install the mods you want but before you go and play. This will reorder your mod list to make things more compatible and stable. I'm not sure if NMM does this automatically but Workshop, manual, and Bash installations do not.
3. Read readmes.
4. Don't go mod-crazy. Install a few, test stability, then install some more. Retextures can be installed all at once as long as your computer can handle them.
auto-update from workshop is a double edged sword. As far as I know, mod authors can push bad updates on you or even remove the mod.
you rock. I plan do play skyrim with a controller on a 64" 1080p plasma. I have a 670gtx so I should be able to throw a few at it. I love all the city, texture, and hd packs. Probably will do those first. Then I might add a few of the weapon packs. Finally there are a few mods that change the game that seem interesting. I imagine this is where the errors come into play at. Will only do a few of those.
SKSE. You probably already installed it but just making sure.

Oh, and I suggest more texture mods.
Those weaps look awesome. I added all four above. I also added SKSE just to be on the safe side like you recommended.
Ill browse through a few more texture mods. How do you know which one will over wrire each other?
cool nabbed both of those plus adding some more right now. Really like the mods that redo the faces to make them look more real..
More excited about the mods than the game lol....
btw, how do you update a mod through NMM? I downloaded some mods and they came outdated. i.e. the jaySuS sword mod came in the 13C version while the most current is the V13D. When I click on the new version it takes me back to nexus where I originally dl'ed it.
