Recording Program

Whats a good prog that i can for example, play and mp3 while recording my voice into the mp3, or make new file of whatever format with my voice in it. Like the star wars theme is playin and im reading the opening words.
Free would be nice cuz its only gonna be a few times, but if not give me some good ideas.
