R4E and connecting the 12v CPU power question

I'm looking at building my first intel system, been building AMD systems since the late 90s. I'm looking at the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme with an i7-3930k processor. I noticed the board has both a 4 pin 12v cpu power connector and a 8 pin 12v cpu power connector.

My question is can I connect both, using the psu 4 pin ATX12v cpu cable and 8 pin EPS12v cpu cable, or should I just use the 8 pin EPS12v connector or the combo 4+4 pin ATX12v connector.

I ask because this is the first psu I own that came with a EPS12v cable.

You CAN connect both, but from what I gather it doesn't really provide any benefit over just using the 8 pin EPS. I just have the 8 pin connected on mine and have not had a single issue @ 4.6 ghz.
