Nice clean looking rig! Don't you just love those S-ATA cables over the old IDE ones?

I'm a little concerned about the lack of exhaust fans immediately behind the CPUs...

That's not really a problem ... there's a 120m intake fan that pushes enough fresh air inside and theres another 92mm fan in the side panel blowing fresh air directly to the CPUs ...

but after all i'd say that i could rund that without case fans at all ... the CPUs (1800+)won't be stressed for the most of the time and get 1.4V (or less if possible) while clocked at 1666MHz / 2000+ ... i can't go higher without using the wire-in-socket trick ...

The part that really needs the fresh air is the FX5800@Ultra that is going to replace the GF2GTS

Well, I guess the card will be cooled directly by the blowholes (TM)... :)

Anyway, I didn't mean to b!tch, just that the fans are not evident in your photo... ;) I guess with minimal cable blockage and good pair of blowholes (TM) over the heat sources, you can get away with it without an exhaust... :)

I made a post to this thread about 7 or 8 pages ago. Things have changed quite a bit sense then...

I'm working on replacing Whitebox, moving it to Post, and retireing post. Whitebox is running Win2k3. It runs DNS, DHCP, RIS, network wide backups, ADS, and a few other things. Post is, as the name implies, my mail server. It runs Windows 2000 Advanced server, and Exchange 2000, as well as a jump point web pages so I can preview and test them before I upload them.

Average CPU and Memory loads:
Whitebox: 4% CPU/288M RAM

I'll try to post pics when I can...

Holy Batman, heatsinks and fans!! I know exactly what you mean by noisy fans... I didn't even bother to install any of mine, I went straight for the Swiftech MCX varients! ;)

I'm interested in that Tyan if you are selling it. PM me about it and a price.

I will be in Hamburg tommorow night and will be in Germany til the 7th of April.

anyone know of a heatsink that will fit on the Gigabyte ga-7dpxdw+ and cool 2 xp's clocked at [email protected]?

A little OT, but i would like to know as well. I've got the same mobo, with a pair of xp2000's and TMC's and currently clocked at 1800, default volts. I need some better cooling. Case has 2 x 92mm fan's, one could be replaced with a 120 with a little work, and a psu with a 92mm fan in it.

I'll get a pic when my mum comes home from her holiday to Cairns, with my digi cam and digi camcorder.

Cheers

Well, I bought an opteron. Here's what I have atm...

Board: Tyan K8W
CPU: Opteron 240 (I can always upgrade, right?)
Drives: 4x Fujitsu 36G 15,000 RPM U160 SCSI

Now the crown jewel:
Case: Lian-Li PC-78SCA (Picture is here --> http://scasp.webnow.biz/upload/a0000010/en_US/prd_380.jpg

Not sure what I wana do for a PS, wether to go w/ an RPS or a big std ps, as well as un-sure about what to do for RAID card and Video.

Thats it for now,
Nick

A pair of Kingston 512MB DDR DIMM PC2100 CL2.5 ECC REG LP
No real SMP machine, yet. Going to buy a second CPU soon, couldn't afford two from the beginning. It's running FreeBSD 4.9 and is working like a charm.

The server in use

Jage: Is this the IPMI card? I don't actually see it installed in any of the pics on your gallery.
questions:
How's it working for you?
What does it enable?
Where did you find a mini-PCI one?

ambit: Yes, you can see it here.
It is hidden under the IDE cables.
The remote management is working great.
I bought it from a Swedish Super micro dealer called mullet, you can find more info about the card here.

morpheus777!!!!!!! you SUCK man! ;)

Or maybe I do because I don't have a SWEET opteron dually rig. Care to share some benchmarks and general performance differences between that rig and your dual Athlon MP??

One of these days I'm going to get a dual rig... one of these days. I'm thinking AFTER college though... :D

i just moved flat and had to build the desk, hence the tools etc...

i'm hoping to get modding on the boxes soon.

i'd like some input on how i can save some physical space. and, ideally, i'd like to cluster all three boxes. i may or may not depending on gf and $$$ be adding another 4 systems in the next month or two.

oh yeah, hi [H] - nice to be here :p
